Was beach fishing at Casey yesterday and hooked what I thought was a mondo big silver. After a terrific fight and beaching it I saw that it was a Chum. Mint bright and full of fight. Only got the one but there were a bunch rolling down by the loading station.

I fished Casey Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Great Coho days Friday and Saturday. Was able to C&R a lot of fish to get the bigger hooknose. Both days were PM bite days, as the high slack and ebb were in the PM. Couldn't get there Sunday until after 5 PM Sunday and got the one Coho and the big Chum. I fished plug cuts Friday & Saturday. Used slip tie leaders to get the hooks positioned right, and tied the herring on with stretchy thread to keep from throwing it off. Anyone have a good way to hook up plug cuts so they survive casting and retrieving? Sunday I tossed hardware.
