I heard a rumor that Reiter may open Saturday. Any info.?

I haven't heard any info on it but the person to contact about it is Curt Kraemer with wdfw. He is the one working with that fishery closure.

I got curious myself and called Curt. The answer was no. Only about 200 fish have gone through so far this year so they will not be opening it at all for the remainder of the year.

The hatchery escapement weekly report website states that 305 summer steelhead have made it back to Reiter. The original news release said 350 are needed for an opening. I expect it will open soon with the influx of water we have received lately.

From what he told me they WILL NOT open Reiter at all because the number of returning fish is too close to the amount needed to open it to fishing.
