G-MAN's post on Whatcom Creek and the classic "Fish must be hooked in the Mouth to Keep" sign got me thinking.

So I'll ask y'all - what sign would you post on your home river??

I can't decide for my own.

A tossup between "NO, this is NOT Reiter Ponds" beathead confused

Suggestions?

For the Vedder River it would be "Maximum Capacity 10,000 people. Please step to the rear."

Dave, I learned about the Vedder from your articles. I guess I wasn't the only one to read them.

P.S. thanks for introducing me to float fishing, it has been awsome!

Mike: The finest thing about this business is hearing from guys like you who enjoy their fishing more now because of something I wrote. I love that.

Years ago I was banking it on the Snoqualmie when two guys came by in a boat. One was so pumped he could hardly talk. He had just landed a fine steelhead on a pink worm. He didn’t recognize me and told me that he had read about them but really didn’t have much faith in them until he hooked the only fish of the day on good old Jake the Snake. That made my day!

But, I think maybe I might have written a few too many articles on the Vedder.

There is a new magazine coming out in January called Steelhead and Salmon Journal. I have an article in it on Vedder River steelhead. Guess I'm a slow learner.

Dave, can you tell us more about the new magazine? Who is publishing it? Monthly, quarterly? You know the drill. Thanks in advance.

Eddie: I don't know a lot more than I just told you. Cept the publisher is a guy named Pat Hogland. I think he usd to be with Fishing and Hunting news. I think its to be a monthly, but please don't hold me to that. From the required fromat for where-to pieces it looks at though he will be prividing a ton of detailed info, right down to top places to eat in the area, where to camp, river maps, etc.

I always wish any new mag the best, but he's in a tough niche to go against STS.

Dave, thanks. I enjoy all of your books and articles. I am glad there are guys like you who take the time to write and help guys like me who have to attend to other vocations in life and have limited time to fish.

Thanks for the pink work story. I used pink worms on the Vedder and I have never caught a fish on them up there. The first fish I caught on one was at the mouth of the Tolt. I walked down there and saw several guys fishing. None of them had caught a fish all day. I put on a mini pink worm and made several casts. The next thing you know I hooked into a nice Steelhead. I got him in and released him. I caught one more on that same worm. Needless to say I gave away a few to those guys on the bank to help them along. I now use them like plugs on my driftboat, especially in no bait areas. Long live the pink worm!

Take care Dave and keep on writing.
