EXTENDED...THE BIGGEST CHANGE IN THE PREVIOUS FORECAST THINKING
CONCERNED SUPER TYPHOON SUDAL. THE REMNANTS SO THIS TYPHOON ARE
EXPECTED TO BECOME ABSORBED BY A POTENT EXTRATROPICAL STORM...WHICH
WILL AFFECT MAINLY AK ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. IN THE
MEANTIME...A STRONG PAC STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING RAIN TO THE PAC NW
LATE MON INTO MON NIGHT. AFTER TUE THE FORECAST BECOMES LESS CLEAR.
THE MAIN BRUNT OF THE ENERGY FROM THE EXTRATROPICAL SYSTEM IS
EXPECTED TO PASS N OF THE AREA. CONFIDENCE IN THE FORECAST WAS NOT
HIGH AS THE MEDIUM RANGE MODELS WERE HAVING SOME PROBLEM WITH THE
FEATURES OVER THE DATA VOID PAC. THE LATEST GFS EXTENSION SOLUTION
PRESENTED AN UPPER RIDGE OVER THE PAC NW DURING THE LATTER PART OF
THE PERIOD. FOR NOW...DUE TO THE UNCERTAINTY INVOLVED...HAVE KEPT A
CHANCE OF PRECIP THRU THE PERIOD. HOWEVER THERE IS A CHANCE THAT AN
AMPLIFIED RIDGE MAY BUILD OVER THE REGION AHEAD OF THE EXTRATROPICAL
SYSTEM.

Twas a fine day for sitting in a busstop in Olympia whilst the hail pattered all around. Ahhh can't get any better than several minutes of sustained hail. The pellets were probably in the 2-5mm range. Love this weather! There was even a little bit of lightning and thunder Tuesday evening. Thrilling!
