My buddy and I went out this afternoon. We had six hits. We couldn't get fish to stick into our hook. We lost all of those fish. We will try again next week. How did everyone do? salmon

I was there at 4:45ish ready to go, but the fish were not cooperating.
Only saw about 4 landed. The bay had been fished clean. We bailed out at 9:30 and fished Westpoint northward till noon. 2 coho hooked 1 landed about 7#'s.

The creel checker said it was a very slow day today. We left at 6pm and there were only 61 kings counted at that time.

When we pulled out at 7pm on Sunday evening the checker had seen 75 fish all day. Biggest fish of the day to be checked in was in my fish box though. 32 pounds of very nice Elliot Bay King.

I was 3 for 3 on Elliott Bay until Last night. Got an 8, 16, and 24 lbr on previous evening trips. Saw several fish on just as the sun dropped behind the mtns. Just one little shaker for us. Cool sunsets both Friday and Saturday.

I've had a slow summer in Elliott Bay. Here's a question I'd like some opinions on.

I tend to fish from Salty's to the ferry docks... rarely fish out by the buoy at the mouth of the bay. What are you theories about when and how to fish high tides vs. low tides in Elliott Bay? Do the tides influence whether you fish inside or outside?

My buddies and I fished from 5 to 11. Pretty slow morning for us. One small coho and no other take downs.

td,
In regards to tides and Elliott Bay:
A tribal fisher told a friend of mine that the fish really move with the tide. On the incoming they will push into the river and conversely outgoing they will flush out into the bay. I have noticed a back-eddy that occurs with the outgoing though - If you start by the edge of the eastern edge of the west waterway - near where the Seattle Police boat usually sets up now, the drift will actually carry you toward the center of Harbor Island - and fish too! We caught 3 kings in 45 min. doing this one morning. The other thing about Duwamish Head - which you probably know - is that it is better than the bay early in the season (end of July) and after first light (8:00am). Good luck next week - about a 7-8' incoming tide in the morning.
