My buddy and I were out tonight. Only saw two other boats. heard most either went up the river or got stuck trying. We trolled the east shore above the mouth and landed 1 king. No other action. I'll let ya know how it tasted tomorrow night

there are only a very limited number of fish in the river as of now, been there the last two evenings after work, i've seen two fish hooked(both foul hooked at that)...not even the netters are pulling in many fish, one indian swooped through the entire 100 yard stretch of holding water i was fishing with his gill net stretched from one side of the river to the other and only came up with one fish(it was a beauty though)...i'd give it at least another week or so if you want a decent shot at hooking a fish, i have just been happy to be on the water losing gear again

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Mau10,

You can take the Mounts Road exit of I-5 southbound and turn left at the top of the ramp. You'll get to the river in a couple minutes.

If you cross the river, and take a left at the Public Fishing sign, you can bank fish at the 'handicap access'. You can only be on the Pierce County side of the river if you have a Ft. Lewis range pass. Search 'range pass' in the archives and you'll find an explanation of how to get one.

You'll see lots of guys fishing the Pierce Co. side of the river........some have range passes, some don't. Every once in a while, though, the MP's will come through, and if you're lucky they'll just make you leave.

Good luck

YEA, GO TO A RIVER THE FISH BITE IN.
THESE FISH HAVE A BAD CASE OF LOCK JAW.
THE ONLY THING I HAVE FOUND THAT WORKS IS A GILL NET. WE NEED THE OTHER RIVERS TO OPEN. THIS PLACE IS SAD.

Are there any other rivers close by that might produce a decent fishing trip you might like to share?
