Why bother? The kings are already headed up the river and turning, and the silvers are weeks away...
I can hear it already "oh yeah that one will smoke up fine"...
Have at it.

my post last night was after many a sam adams so i have deleted it and will just respond with- no, i most definitley will not be there for the opener...if there weren't so many other more appealing opportunities out there, i would rather just work and save my vacation/comp hours rather than deal with all the idiots out there....may there be a gamer hidden in the brush on every snagging hole on the skok?? keep asking yourself that while timing out your cast 1-2-3 PULL!!!

You and the tribe are fed up with trash you gotta be kidding me have you ever heard the saying live by your own rules, the tribes should be more concerned about the s*** holes they have along side the road there. Good god if you want to be such a nice guy, good samaritan, go buy some hefty sacks and clean up year 2000 fire works and beer cans off the sacred tribal land, give me a break.

ya the white man is just terrible why dont yall go to that little tackle shop on the south shore road and ask to see what the skoks have been buying from Bob Cahee. I have been watching that river for the last month and havent seen a single indian fishing legal yet! there all snagging fish that we should have access too! we pay for part of those fish. If ya dont have time to check out the shop I will tell you. He selling 5/0 treble snag hooks with the lead molded around the hook and he is selling alot of them, all to the skok indians! Where was our opportunitty increased to make up for the closure of the skok this last month? HMMMM? Anybody wonder why bluecreek was so crowded this summer? It wasnt any better than it was last year or the year before. Why are sportsfishermen so hard on each other? Do ya think the tribes talk about each other like this? Maybe this is the reason we have crap and the tribes get what they want.

I, like 101, Have been checking out the river for the last month. The indians are sure having a good time on all those ESA impacted salmon. My buddy has filmed them on many different occasions this month, snagging the crap out the fish.
Like I said before, the WDFW either have something going on with the tribes ($$$), or they are just using the ESA bullcrap as a reason to not have to use the manpower to patrol the river. I don't think that is the case since everytime I have been down this month theres been a GW around. All the other years before this one, there has rarely been a GW down there. At least not as much as I've been seeing lately.
It sucks because there is enough fish in there for everybody and there has been for at least the last twelve years that I've been fishing it.
I think something is going on, not just at the Skok, but statewide. It's just a conspiracy theory, but I think the WDFW have something going on with the tribes. If anybody has any thoughts or reasons on why we can't fish the Skok and other rivers during the month of August this year, and probably next, feel free to enlighten me. I'm all eyes.

Well Mr. Black I will quote one of your percieved idols and say take the stance that the fisherman of Washington State are "comfortably numb" The number of slamon and steelhead hasn't gotten to the point where rivers are being shut down to sport fisherman all together and the tribes are still able to keep a harvest each year, and I think that is what it is going to take for sports fisherman to respond in a fashion where WDFW QUITS THE UNDER THE TABLE SHUFFLING OUT OF BENNIES and starts a plan where everybody's interests are met in adequate style. But you're conspiracy theory is supported here, and all the players in the game of harvesting of salmon and steelhead continue to be "two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year."

Makai, I know that it's legal for the indians to snag. Don't care about it. The tribe can manage they're members as they see fit. I don't even care if they're fishing it. God knows (and so do I) that there is a harvestable runs of kings in there. FOR EVERYBODY. The first few weeks in August are when the fish are in they're best condition. I don't want to fish in September for boots. (I know Flicker, the majority of the fish you saw were in good condition.) I just want to know why the river was closed for the month of August. I have a ball there every year (as do MANY of others) even though it's gotten a little crowded We should have the opportunity.
