Arnold had a little questionnaire for undecided voters of the upcoming Presidential election:

"My fellow immigrants, my fellow Americans, how do you know if you are a Republican? I'll tell you how.

If you believe that government should be accountable to the people, not the people to the government...then you are a Republican! If you believe a person should be treated as an individual, not as a member of an interest group... then you are a Republican! If you believe your family knows how to spend your money better than the government does... then you are a Republican! If you believe our educational system should be held accountable for the progress of our children ... then you are a Republican! If you believe this country, not the United Nations (news - web sites), is the best hope of democracy in the world ... then you are a Republican! And, ladies and gentlemen ...if you believe we must be fierce and relentless and terminate terrorism ... then you are a Republican!

There is another way you can tell you're a Republican. You have faith in free enterprise, faith in the resourcefulness of the American people ... and faith in the U.S. economy. To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: "Don't be economic girlie men!"

Arnold was just one more example of the postive message being delivered at the Republican convention as opposed to the negative mess the Democrats offered up. What a distinct difference between the ideologies. This BB is a real reflection of it. Negative gloom and hate is all they have to offer. Name calling and insults. It is so clear which party is going to lose. Couldn't happen to a more deserving group of pessimists.

If I remember correctly there was a time when Marsha liked you. Now it's been you calling her names I really don't care much what you and the other right-winger think of me but don't you think it's a bit hypocritical on your part to be calling others negative and filled with venom.
Yeah I have a lot of venom for guys like you and TK. RB is at least trying to be decent but you other two a-holes just parrot the party line like good little nazis.

Government accountable to the people? Yeah the Patriot Act, the unreleased energy policy documents, and I had a little chuckle there.

People treated as individuals, not special interests? What does that even mean? People ARE the special interests. The NRA, DU, PSA.........even NAMBLA........are made up of people who have their own special interests.

Do I believe I can spend my money better than the government? That's just stupid. If you think that, you're not a Republican, you're an American.

Oh, the Houston school district, and their utterly falsified and manipulated test scores and attendance figures and I had a good laugh about Bush's education plan. Then the Gramm-Rudman act joined in for a laugh.

Bush said yesterday we couldn't terminate terrorism. Mustn't be a Republican, huh?

I didn't see the speech, but was told the first Republican Ah-nold identified with was Nixon. Now there's a GOP poster child.

I have to say I loved Arnold's 'girly men comment," got a good laught out of me. You didn't exactly see Maria standing up and cheering though....

I'm glad to see you have finally brought something of substance to this forum, rather than the typical sarcastic shot at those who aren't Geore Bush drones. I think if we all stick to debating ideas, rather than personal shots at each other, this forum would be a happier place.

He told of how when he had a McGovern speech translated to him shortly after arriving in the US he related Democrat ideals to that of the socialist system he left in Austria. He then heard a Nixon speech and said that is what I am looking for freedom and became a Republican.

Yeah.......cuz the GOP is all about freedom, huh?

I suppose you have to see things in a glass half full perspective otherwise you can make any situation seem much worse than it is. Like during the clinton admin when Rush and his cronies had the conservatives convinced the country was falling off the face of the earth. I never saw it that way. I saw some things I did not like but knew that with time if it was ment to change it would.

A glass that's half-full needs more beer.

Worry not, though..........the other side will surely have lots to clown them on next week when they try to let the air out of GW's convention-bump balloon.
