Sol, I have never met you, but you seem to be a guy that most (including myself) would enjoy fishing with. The over the top stuff you speak of, is sorta like ego's in a locker room full of jocks. It reminds me of my old basketball days when guys would horse play and talk the talk. The guy that always tell you how good he is at sex, or how he can out fight Mike Tyson if you pissed him off. I consider that as nothing more than smack talk, and most of us never take it serious. Don King made a livng at it after serving time in prison for murder. We tend to let those guy's get away with the posturing without feeling intimidated or challenged, and at times find that it's entertaning and amusing. Self proclaimed guys that are allthat, such as Theking are usually laughed at and never taken seriously on a BB because of their excesses.
This is a BB of Mostly men. Men with ego's that have been groomed and conditioned to compete with each other in all area's of the real world. Big Stick, ( or what ever his name was) got to be annoying for some, because of his ego and bragging in posts every 2 or 3 minutes over a couple of days. That amount of look at me over here pissing in the salad bowl in multiple post, is perceived as noise or static and can get on some people's nerves. Big Stick was in the hundreds of posts in a couple of days. Can you say, talk way to much; (loud mouth) thats was constantly screeming for attention? Sorta like carrying a sign around one neck that says look at me I'm number one, I know everything, I have all answers, etc. etc..
Sometimes this behavior is recieved as static and gets attentions, just like a itch does before we scratch.
I think this is an opportune time for your humility to create some balance for you. Humility is a virtue that reminds us that we are not perfect and offers the posibility of making corrections or improvements in our lives. I was once a classic type A personality that had to win in all imaginary contests involving personalities, until I learned to let go. By doing that I probably added years to my life and put off having an early heart attack. Humility provides us with that opportunity. Removing defects of character can strenthen us both spiritually, as well as physically. Humility comes with self examination or personal inventory. Non of us as individual have to know it all, nor do we have to be perfect. By accepting that we are not perfect, and don't have to know all things; it help's us to be teachable. Capable of learning new things that we can apply in our lives as needed.
It would be a shame if you chose to not participate in this forum because of personalities. This is a forum of personalites and that's what captivates our interest. The most important thing that governs us, as well as the Moderator are certain principles. Examples are; 1. Sexual content, 2. personal attacks, 3. Profanity and, 4.Blatant Dis-respect of other members. If we find ourselves being moderated in those areas, then maybe more attention should be given before clicking the send button. I consider you a giving and deserving guy. You are much more of an asset to this board than a detriment. Keep the things that work and take a good look at the things that doesn't work. By doing this you can navigate a coarse that we all get to benefit from.
Real men don't quit they just get better. If it was a basketball team I would love having you as a point guard on my team because you would keep the midgets busy while I get to do some slam dunking. "Wooop's", some of my type A came to the surface.
Hang in there bud, don't give up you are one of the good guys.
