Went to opening night for Branford Marsalis last night at Jazz Alley. It was well worth the money and time spent. Also, he still has Jeff Watts working with him and even did a couple compositions that he wrote. Good music, good wine and lots of it. If you're a jazz fan and think it died in 1967, I'll have to say that these guys are working hard to bring it back to life. Never did A Love Supreme though, that would have been my only complaint.

My wife is a smooth jazz fan and drags me to the annual Smooth Jazz concert at the winery. Myself, I'm more of a blues fan.

The closest thing to smooth jazz Branford did was probably "oh solitude". This set was more influenced by the likes of coltrane, brubeck, davis. None of that Tal Mahal or Sade type stuff.

I probably favor blues over jazz as well, but most of the good ones are dead.
