That should have been Michael Vick, getting chucks broke off his a$s. Careless, and ignorant morons with vicious agressive dogs that attack innocent people should be treated like sex offenders, because those attacks are similar to Rape in my opinion. That would help to make people more responsible to their neighbor.

What kind of dog attacks have you witnessed that are like rape? Sad and irresponsible, yes........but like rape . Unless your referring to Enumclaw dog attacks in which case rape is probably the motivating factor. RVW

Full story in the Chronicle today. Seems the baby sitter, who was not a kid,was just getting ready to take the kid home when the attack occured. I can't believe anyone would try to lay the blame on the parents OR the sitter for someone letting dogs run loose that would do this type of damage. The boyfriend of the kids mother intervened and was attacked by 7 dogs to get the kid out of harms way. When are we as a society going to say enough is enough and start prosecuting anyone who has a dog that attacks anyone while outside thier own yard? I love my dogs as much as anyone, but would never let them roam loose to attack someone. This was posted as Lewis County Hijinks. Other than happening there, where is the hijinks part? I guess it's just us ignorant hillbillies down here running amuck.I would like to know where it is written that it's the parents fault when an attack like this happens in your yard? People need to get thier prioitys straight.

Point taken, I would heartily agree with that. My point is it is not working with the laws that control the wild animals (pursuit) or the perverts. It seems like it would be somewhat easier to control the "tame" animals by making a law that said you must control your animal or it WILL be taken and you WILL go to jail. This is the problem (one of many) with our permissive society.

Irie said, The way it equates to rape is that the kid is going to be damaged for Life. He will be scarred for life. The reason for posting this as "More Lewis County Hijinks" is that anywhere else those dogs would have dispatched immediately by County officials, but down there letting a pack of Feral Dogs on the loose is de riguer and now it's all suddenly THE PARENTS FAULT?!? Was it the parent's fault of the girl raped and murdered in Tacoma her parent's fault for letter her play in the alley behind her house? Hmm, with logic like that, I might as well import some Siberian Tigers and just let them roam the streets seeking prey where they find it. Hey, if they're dumb enough to get EATEN by WILD ANIMALS, then they deserved it right?] ___________________

Keep minimizing rape.
Afterall when you were hatched the promise was made to you that we would do everthing we can as a society to keep you from being scarred.
See.....now this discussion has scarred me......I guess I feel raped by JLH.
I could continue to extrapolate ridiculuous notions but my kids don't wander without me and I am rarely unarmed. Damn near shot a Rot. in my yard but he saw the .45 pointed at him and had an inclination to not be scarred.
Anyhooo it an't rape or even close.....goodnight.

[quote=AuntyM] So, if a pack of feral dogs (which, in itself implies they are no longer under human control) attacks a person, the owner (or former owner) should be prosecuted, in spite of the fact that the dog may not have been in their care for months or years? Yes, because the P.O.S. is responsible and at fault for creating a public menace. The same as if you dumped a whole bunch of Benzene out back on the ground and 5 years later all your neighbors came down with Leukemia because it showed up in thier well water, or, in terms the average rural hick can grasp, if you decided to start a Meth Lab in your singlewide, then when you're out for the evening singing Karaoke down at the bowling alley there's a explosion and it causes a fire and that fire burns up a family of six sleeping peacefully in the singlewide next door, it would still be your fault for being an irresponsible worthless scumbag, not the fault of the people who got Leukemia or the people who burnt up. The first thing a parent learns is that EVERYONE knows how to raise Their kids better than they do and they aren't afraid to say so.

Another update in the Chronicle today(thursday). They had a quote from the owner of the dogs. He blamed the attack on the baby sitter , claiming it was her fault that the dogs attacked and they would have run off if she or another adult were present.I guess he missed the part of the dogs attacking the guy who intervened. The fact that the dogs were not in his yard had no bearing on him ,so it was not his problem. The cops have set live traps and only caught 1 of the 7 dogs so far. They want to get them alive to check out for any diseases. The article went on to say the fine COULD be $270. per dog. This is as bad as the punishment (or lack of punishment) for a drunk driver who injures someone by his/her stupidity. It takes a real piece of work to blame the attack on the victims.

They can see the dogs in the brush in and around his property. Tey have shot several of them with tranqualizer darts, but stated the dogs got away before they could catch them. I didn't quite understand that part either.I would think that anyone who was trained with that method would have a better idea of what it would take to bring an animal down. The story stated the dogs were not hungry so they would not go in the live traps. So they are in their own territory, just elusive and probably frightened after having been shot at and chased. The owner is either not helping or may even be hindering the effort based on his statements to the reporter.

Right, but it was the parents and the babysitter's fault . Just like it was my mom's faukt that I got bit by a doberman when I was a little kid walking home from down the street. Those owners had the same attitude as the guy in this story it seems. He isn't even concerned for the kid. [censored] him. Those people years ago who owned that dog told the cop "That guy(my dad)said he was going to shoot our dog if he sees it off the leash and it attacks his kid." The cop said "Yeah. And if he misses I'll finish the job for him."
See,in today's modern society animals have more precedence than people. It's [censored]. Those dogs need to be put down and that asshole should do a year in county.

Sorry state of affairs... Dog owner is liable and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, no doubt about it.. However a 1 year old BABY should not have been left unsupervised for any length of time.. Vicious dogs need to be exterminated.. no question and owners held accountable. But guardians of 1 year old BABIES need to be held accountable for gross negligence.

The dogs could be taken care of with some anti freeze or "spiked" meat.

The dogs could be taken care of with some anti freeze or "spiked" meat. I was not being serious about the anti freeze. I agree about the parents being held accountable. A 1 year old unsupervised enough for a dog attack? WTF?
