i just had my transmission go out on my 89 4x4 overdrive subourbon. 1.466.86 was the damage. was told by several sources here in camas that my bill was very reasonable. one place qouted nearly 2000$. don't know what you got, but look into wrecking yards. the problem with this is it too may go out within months of putting it in. while a overhaul comes with warranty and is considered new. bottim line.... transmissions are a big bite in the pocket book.

1989 toyota 4x4 ext. cab pickup. i live up the satsop. had the aberdeen transmission place check it out,he drove it all the way to westport for unknown reasons, then he brings it back almost empty on gas and says he doesnt know whats wrong with it, but it will cost 400 just to take it apart to check it out, then to rebuild bout 14-1600 bucks. Thinkin about just going to a junk yard, only thing is u dont know what ur getting, they could be selling u a broken transmission.

hunter, so goes the transmission drama. find a wrecking yard that can offer some sort of a warranty... if you can. just overhaul it man... had mine back in 4 days. now a very strong tranni. 1 year warranty too.

Have you checked how much a rebuilt one from an auto parts store or even the dealer is? I was quoted $3000 to rebuild mine. I bought a rebuilt one from Napa and did the R&R myself all for about $2000.

Sounds like it needs bearings. Yotas are known for transmisson bearing problems. Find a guy that knows manuals, totaly different animal than an automatic.
