Do any of you follow the Ultimate Fighting Championship on cable? Specifically, Carlos Condit, the welter-weight champion. For a skinny, ripped white dude he is a MF'n BADASS! I've never seen him lose and he's won every fight I've seen in the first round, and it's always against some guy that looks like he could tear his head off. His nickname is the "Natural Born Killer," and he is one. Check him out sometime.

I used to like it before they made too many rules. Back when broken limbs were the norm. I'll check into this dude though.

He doesn't look like much, but BOY can looks be decieving. Dude is an awesome striker that can launch a lightning-fast roundhouse to an apponents head, and his jujitsu on the mat is second to none I've yet to see. The boy is dangerous.

I have a fraternity brother like that. Little tiny guy. Doesn't look like a threat to anyone.

He was a many-black-belt instructor for one of the flavor of 'itsu" martial arts. He was the guy that would train law enforcement officers what to do if someone reached over and grabbed their badge. I recommend you don't reach for ANYTHING on an officer. ;\)

He'd make us put a hard boiled egg on our head and do a round-house jumping kick where his leg/foot would be up higher than your head, sweep across, and he'd kick the egg off of your head without hurting or killing you.

He'd do the same kick across your nose where his foot was missing you by a 1/4 inch.

He was so damn lightening fast with his punches, kicks, etc, that you'd never know what killed you.

We used to let him have "Door Duty" at parties.

Nice guy, but I'm sure he could literally instantly kill anyone with his hands/feet, who pissed him off, or directly threatened him or his friends.

Ditto that. Favor is a human buzzsaw. Different weight division than Condit, though.

Yeah, too bad that the UFC doesn't have a 145lb division. Urijah would be good to see step it up. I think that if he tried 155 BJ Penn would kill him though. Another one I want to see jump to the UFC is Brian Stann at 205lbs. He could whoop the Ice Man's ass, but I'm not so sure about Rampage Jackson.

Fighters of years past such as Gracie, Severn & Shamrock wouldn't stand a chance in today's game even if they were in their prime now. The standout fighters not only have one discipline anymore, they are blackbelts in multiple styles. Gone are the days of sumo wrestler vs. kick boxer. Did anyone watch Matt Hughes destroy Gracie a while back? I didn't like watching that as I only have memories of the dominant Gracie in his prime choking fools out w/ his gi (sp). I love mma.

I watched the rerun of Stann's last fight last night. 1st round TKO was the officail call after the ref peeled him off the top of his bloody mess of an apponent. Stann's another bad ass for sure. Thing is, he LOOKS like a bad ass. Totally different than Condit who walks out into the cage and you think, "This boy is going to get his ass handed to him on a plate," and then he proceeds to lay waste to the human in front of him.

That's kind of gay.

The match slated for April will pit Brian Stann against Doug Marshall. Should be a good one for sure. Marshall is a monster and Stann is a good opponent for him. I hope Pulver can reassert himself as a champion and Uriah Faber will be the toughest competition he has seen in sometime. If his last fight against Penn is any indicator, Faber will completely dismantle him. Carlos Condit is the man though. I agree with Sol in regards to his looks and physical presence dont seem that dangerous...however...tap tap tap crack!

I watch it whenever its on..These fighters you are talking about are all in the WEC and the UFC has a lineup of bad asses too.. George St-pierre from the UFC and Carlos Condit from the WEC would be a great fight...
I have to disagree if Urijah went to the UFC and fought in the 155 class he would lay waste to anyone that came along and BJ Penn wouldnt stand a chance..

I've seen BJ Penn fight a few times, and the only fight he looked halfway impressive in was his win over Jens Pulver.

Back in 2000 I was in the Giggling Marlin in Cabo and Tank Abbott walked in. He was much bigger in person.....the guy had a neck like a mountain gorilla, but his head was bigger than a gorilla's. Ugliest guy I've ever seen, and looked like he wanted to beat everyone up in the bar. Yelled "BEER!" whenever he wanted more.....rudest person I've ever seen. And he can't even last a round with the new breed of badazzes!

He smelled like B.O.

Slightly off topic, but, when Patrick Ewing was with the Sonics for his little stint, Jennifer and I hung out with him ( cuz he was with someone else we knew at our hangout), he was the ugliest person I've ever met. Nice guy though.

Tank is a chump. If he doesn't knock you out in the first 30 seconds hes done.

He won some fights back in the day,but most any of the new breed of MMA fighters would beat him down in less than a round.

I have to admit, I liked the Tank Johnson days better. When they paired up the different disciplines, like a BJJ vs a kickboxer. Or a bodyguard vs a greco-roman wrestler. It seemed more interesting to me.

I still watch it occassionally because I am amazed by the level of fitness of the competitors. To put out maximum life-or-death effort for 3 minutes at a time is really impressive.

Most people can't fathom the conditioning those athletes put themselves through. They are truly superhuman.

With 3 losses in only 12 professional bouts over a 7 year period, Penn doesn't impress me. He's not the fighting prodigy some of these guys are.
