The Democrats took control of the US Senate and the US House in 2006 with a platform of change. Despite the best efforts by Republican lawmakers to enact legislation to attack the problems we are facing, the Democrats have successfully blocked it at every corner. Have you had enough change yet? Even the squirrels in my neighborhood are running out of ACORNS.

Despite having a majority, the Democrats who would opt for change can't get past the filibuster efforts of the Republicans. Ergo two more years of Bushco have prevailed. About to end tho. Course, one has to wonder just how much more damage the guy could do this country.

You have to give Bush credit, he did in 8 years what the Democrats haven't been able to do ever, and that's kill off the Republican Party.

Conservatives and progressives both will benefit from this painful death of the current rendition of the Republican Party.

So true. Maybe a new type of conservative party will rise in its place. One that's fiscally conservative for starters. And stays the fvk out of people's personal business - if they don't like abortions, they don't have to get one; if they don't like gay marriage, they don't have to marry a gay; if they don't approve of assisted suicide, they don't have to do it; etc.

I would agree that the current version of the Republican party sucks slimey donkey dongs. It would be nice to see both parties return to their roots, as they have both become a bit more extreme than in the past.

Division like this is not good for the nation, and we need to see the assholes from both sides of the aisle put partisan politics aside and actually get some work done. Enough of the grandstanding, on both sides.

That was pretty much the party of Goldwater, whom I suppported. But these new Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheany, dim blulb Bushes are making a mockery out of true conservatism. Give me a real conservative like Teddy Roosevelt and I will vote for him. But I could never vote for a guy who sucks up to the right wing religious wackos . When McCainm called the Christian conservatives agents of intolerance he had my vote. But he has ruined his chances and his reputation by currying favor with every wack job out there and them added inslut to injury by slecting an obvious light weight like Palin. Can you imagine her as predisent. God help us!

I think most sane americans agree the gov't doesn't belong in either the bedroom OR the doctor's office. However, I happen to believe the doctor's office ends when the diagnosis leaves his hands and enters the accounts payable department and the insurance process begins.

Religious Wingnuts believe that the right to life ends at birth. Ask any "pro-lifer" how they feel about fighting wars or the death penalty.

Im glad that American conservatives are finally waking up, smelling the coffee, that the GOP only wants their votes and their money, and that their views are being sidetracked to finance and implement a corporate oligarchy run by modern robber-baron captains of industry such as Dick Cheney.
