It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Good drivers assess the risk of high-centering before attempting the maneuver.

I guess I won't be headed your way until Mike clears the driveway. wink

Landcruiser fully locked (front, center, and rear) and I know the biggest pieces are driver, tires, and surface. Oh, I haven't gotten stuck yet, but I'm not trying real hard.

Subaru Outback. I've burnt a tank and a half of gas schleping everyone around for the last week. I routinely pass 4x4 pickups along with most front wheel drives and chained up cars, but haven't had to tow any of them out of the ditch this year. The only reason I don't drive faster is because my stopping distance is the same as the lesser vehicles. I'm getting used to seeing people trying to get out and around with cars that absolutely are not suited to the road conditions. They are only a problem when they get themselves turned sideways, but even then I can usually just drive off into the [censored] and go around them. And then for the deep stuff, I just have to make like a snowplow and angle over to the right and push the snow aside, back up and head straight and do it again. Slipped the tires a bit for the first time yesterday on a hill, but it was just temporary. The Subie is not intimidated by snow.
