I need some brake work done on our 3rd rig. Its a '99 S10 Blazer that only gets driven about 1000 miles per year.

Had my share of tires from LS but never had brake work. Brakes are something I'd normally do myself, but I'm feeling lazy this time.

Twice I took my explorer there. The first time they said I needed new rotors because they were out of spec, so I bought new rotors. When the pads had worn I took it in to get new pads and they said the rotors were out of spec. I told them just do the pads, they used high pressure to try and get me to do the whole thing saying they wouldn't do "just the pads".

I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer. Dealer said the rotors were fine, well within spec, got a printout and took it to LS. Brakes were They still held firm. I complained upstream to region about deceptive practices. Nothing ever came of it, except I don't get my brakes done there anymore.

Could have been just the single shop. Not sure. Great place for tires, and getting flats fixed.

Had them jam the rotors thing down my throat as well. Same story.. took it someplace else and there was nothing even close to wrong with them. Just needed pads. I do get tires there however.. always

I've always gotten great pricing on tires, but based on this, I'm staying away from the brake service.

Had Yakima LS do front brakes on my '01 Ford F350 couple years ago, no complaints, started getting a little brake noise last month , had the new LS store in Selah check it out, needed rear brakes, they did the work, no complaints...both times new rotors were not needed they turned old ones.

I also run LS tires and batterys on my truck and both boat trailers as well, the main reason is I'm on the road alot, they have locations in most of the towns near where I fish in Central and SW Washington, I'm happy with the service @ LS...thats coming from a guy the worked for the Goodyear Tire Co for 14 years. beer

Ever since the old man died it's turned into a high pressure try to sell you what you don't want or need place. Trying to pressure everyone to get their tires siped. I said loudly "if it's so good for the tires and traction why don't your tires come with it?" Of course I got the Ahole stare. Also, I'm told they no longer fix flats for free unless you bought them there. For brakes they use after market pads which are crap too. You'll be lucky if they aren't making a ton of noise. I won't go there anymore. Too bad. Used to be one of the most reputable places around.

I got brakes for my truck there two years ago and I have no complaints. Wife just had brakes done. They did not push rotors on us at all. They do sqeak a little so I am going to take it back. I have bought tires there for years. I love the service, free rotations, and free flat repair. Oh yeah, free popcorn, dont forget the popcorn.

I have no idea about brakes, but I brought a tire that went flat on my rental car up on Whidbey Island into their tire place. Tossed it in the back of the truck, dropped it off came back an hour later, They had it fixed at no charge. I questioned them, I was prepared to pay. They said no I like them so far.

The Oak Harbor Les Schwab told me I needed new rotors on my Cadi. I called BS because the I saw them hustle the woman standing in line in front of me. Told her she needed rotors. When I was next and they told me I needed rotors, something stank like BS so I said peace. I wont do business with them for that experience. I'm suprised now to hear so many other people with the same story.

I'm skipping them for the brake job. I called today and they wanted almost $700 for new rotors, calipers and pads. This is just for the rears by the way.

I stopped by a Chevy dealer and the rotors are fine, the calipers are good also. Just need some new pads and the rotors turned. $250 out the door.

$250 is more than it would cost me to do it myself, but not having to run around town to get the rotors turned and fiddle fart with brakes on a weekend is worth it this time.

my last experience with them was when shopping for new tires and wheels for my pickup 3 or 4 years ago. quoted a highball price and smugly told me that it was the best i was going to find in town...went to a small shop and saved $400!

F--K LS, The Corksuckers will try and sell you
their mother! On second thought I wont buy tires
there again. The place is becoming a full blown
scam I tell you.

My 1/2 ton pickup had a recent LS brake job when I bought it and they seem to be holding up pretty good. I do my own brakes so I can't really say if one shop is better than the other. I get my tires at Tire Factory here in Oldandstale and I realy like the Kellys.

I worked as a professional mechanic for many years (back when ASE was NIASE) and was certified in all areas. I have never paid for a brake job, rotor turn, or brake drum turn. I can tell you that unless your brakes are pulsating or making a gawd awful noise, it is not likely that you need either a drum turn or rotor turn. If you are told you need such....make them prove it. There are specifications, make them use them.

There are caliper rebuilds available that come with the pads. They can be purchased very reasonably and put on by an independent, if you are not comfortable with it.

Like most things in today's world.....your fears are another man's money.

I used to voluntarily "supervise" owners who were willing to do the work. I worked for them under two conditions. They kept the coffee coming and I didn't get my hands dirty. I did it to educate the average owner. The conclusion I came to was that there were very few folks interested if they had to do the work. I found that interesting, since I have always been a "I can do that" type. To each his own. If you find a good, honest shop/mechanic....best treat 'em right, I'd think.

Normally do my own brakes but had LS do them last year right after I had surgery and was in no condition to do it myself. Came to just under $300 and they did good work, no complaints.

I took the Volvo to Bucky's about two years ago and they wanted $1500 for all the brakes. I had them just replace the front pads but still cost $350.
Found a mechanic up the hill that did all four of my F150 brakes for $350 and just turned the rotors. Took the Volvo for the rear brakes, didn't need to turn the rotors and it cost $150 for pads. Consulted him for my boat trailer brakes an definately said he couldn't turn the rotors as they were rusted out. A buddy helped me last summer and I replaced everything, dual axle, new rotors calipers, lines, and actuator and it cost me a $1000.
