I really like JP...seems that the Lions got the better? Looks like the Hawks might draft Aaron Curry if he's available at four. The Lions franchised Cory Redding in 2007..does anyone know about this guy? At least they got a 5th round too. JP LINK

WOW, was not expecting this. Sounds like he would not take a pay cut and this move now changes our draft focus to one of the two stud LB that are available...cheers

Curry is a BEAST plays the 3-4 and 4-3, immediate impact pro bowler for years to come..barring injuries. Kinda hard not to pass on a player of his quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zc2swzWR_4

I was a little suprised at this as well. I think its a good move on Seattle's part. With Sanfran expressing that they are going to be a running team, Arizona is going to try and develop a running game, and St. Louie having Steven Jackson, forces the Hawks to gets some run stuffers in the middle. Brandon Mebane is becoming an awesome force and now add two veteran run stuffers (Cole and Redding) to the middle. I think it just might be the ticket to force teams to run to the outside where our zippy linebackers and corners can light up the running back. I will miss JP, had a couple of great seasons for us, but as far as linebackers go, he was getting a little long in the tooth. I agree that the hawks should draft one of the stud LBs in the first round. We do need to get Walts heir apparent trained and ready to go though.

Basically it is a steal. They were going to cut JP and get nothing in return, probably this week. So instead of nothing we got another big body for the DL, and a 5th round pick. JuP is a nice player, fun to watch, but gets caught out of position a lot. He used to have the catch up speed, but is losing it now.
Great job Ruskell.

Great job Ruskell. +1 I liked watching JP do his thing, but I say bring in the wide body DL & draft that stud Kid Curry & let him go to work. Hill & Lofa will get him up to speed by opening day-kick off. & just perhaps the young guy can help them kick the after hours drunk driving & dope smoking road trips..... c/22

The fifth rounder makes up for the 5th rounder we gave to Carolina for Keary Colbert who was a bust. Redding is versatile and quick enough to play at the end. All we need now is BJ Raji and the defensive could be unstoppable. I'd rather have Curry if he is available. Crabtree would work or Smith at tackle. Orakapo can play end of even an outside LB in a 3-4. We need help on the o-line and also at safety. Chung might be good to replace Russell. Also Mack, and Unger are good centers. I don't see us going after Ziggy Hood DT. It will be interesting to see who we get with the second round pick. Too bad we don't go after some free agent lineman now that Porkchop went to Cleveland.

You hit it on the head, they need a safety to replace Russel.

We need a safety, a corner, TWO OL imo and a stud pass rusher. Ruskell better nail this draft cause we need to get 3 solid starters out of it and I dont think we are done in FA yet. There are always some solid Vets gettin released from now till July.
