I have heard that the Lamiglas certified pro series is as good as the G.Loomis GL3,and almost as good as the IMX series of G. Loomis. I am in the market for a 8'6" and willing to spend the money. I already have an IMX Loomis model (love it) but was wondering how the certified pro series compares.

Don't bother, whoever is saying that hasn't got a clue. Stick with Loomis, they are second to none.

I am very fortunate to be able to fish dozens and dozens of different rods each year and build hundreds more. I really like the Lamiglas Cert. Pro, they are very pretty rod (much prettier than Loomis)and they have great actions in most of the rods I have fished. I really like the 9'6" 6-15 Cert. Pro.
However... If I were in the market for a new rod and money wasn't the issue, it would be a Loomis. Loomis build a lighter, stronger, straigher rod. Bottomline.
The GL3 is lighter than the Cert. Pro. it is stronger (we do much more warranty work on Lamiglas rods than we do Loomis, and we sell more Loomis rods.) and the Loomis blanks are straighter for the mst part than Lamiglas. Now most people don't look that carefully to the blank and guide placement and guide wraps when they buy a factory rod, or they would never buy one but Loomis builds a better factory rod than Lamiglas. We build a much better rod than both of the,!
I do not work for either company!

Thanks for letting me play!

3-R, as to Certifified Pro as good as GL-3 ya. Imx- ya 2 ya. I'd rate my Big Stick "C.P. X 90 HCT 9 footer rated @ 10-30" as better than any Imx I've fished. Good balance with curado-200 20 lb. main & 15 ultragreen leader's. Light tip & ton's of backbone for Salmon and Nate's. On top of it all it look's so good! Golden- tone blank that remind's me of brandy at sunset. Also A great Mexico rod, kick's butt on yellow tail's/ small to med. rosterfish & yellow-fin Tuna. And you thought a 40 Lb. King was tough!

loomis rods are in general a better built rod, however for the money depending on what you are fishing for either rod will suffice, I've got an LHS s86mhct 10-20 up for sale, wich i feel for the money is as good if not more so better for the price, if you are interested e-mail is jwarter@msn.com

I fish with those two poles , the GL3 is my drift rod and the certified pro is my second pole mainly used for bobber fishing. The GL is better but if I had a choice between two specilty rods from lamiglas or one GL for everything I would pick the lamiglas.

You guys have it all wrong, best drift rods on the market...second to NONE...is TALON rods. Blow Gl3 and Sage away....please you guys should know better since they are built in WA state...we've been using them in Canada for real salmon (not those guppies you guys have) and the rods have been unreal. I have used all types of rods and have never owned a more stronger responsive rod.

period.

Talon.

And I do not work for them.

I have a GL2 Loomis for my drift rod but for bobber fishing, I really like my Lamiglass cert pro. Not sure of the exact number, but it's the Dave Vedder signiture rod.

I prefer Loomis myself. I just thnk they are a higher quality rod. Both Loomis and Lamiglass afe excelent choices though. Two of the best on the market. I have about 10 loomis tha ti use for Salmon and Steelhead fishing and have had no problems and the few I have broken because of my own negligence were repalced at a very reasonable few. Go with what you like and you will be happy. AS long as you pick loomis and Ford. smile smile

I love my GL2. Sensitive, and lots of backbone. GL3's are even better but they are pricey. Yeah, i'd go with Loomis and Chevy. lol
