What you learn in 61 years is that off to fight injustice or whatever is not always ill advised. I chose to serve my brother chose not to. Both right in the beginning but whatever the many reasons Nam went south had nothing to do with the troops but politicians and generals who ran things. They would not let the troops fight the NVA & Charles on our terms. You don't send men to die in an ongoing holding mission. I had friends that were Cambodian. We pulled and Pol Pot and the horror of the killing fields descended upon a nation but worse even Pres. Carter has said the US congress stopping from him doing something was his greatest regret as president. President Clinton, Rwanda and the bloodbath the erupted his greatest regret for not doing something.
You see guy it is not a D or R thing or anti war ( as anybody with a brain the size of a pea is anti war ) it is how and when do you fight. Some people believe nothing is worth dieing for others shoot um all...........the answer is usually in the middle. The issue is really when, where, and how you draw the line. Patton had it right. " The way you win a war is not to die for your country but make the other son of a bitch die for his." When you send people off to fight and die, and some or many will for sure, then the nation has the responsibility to do everything in it can to destroy the enemy or stay the hell out. You just hope you have a President that knows this. Bush Sr did and got in & out ( but he was a vet ) as did Kennedy in pulling the plug on the Bay of Pigs bit ( he was a vet ) as did Ike ( he was a vet ) in bringing and end in Korea but all knew the unbelievable evil thing combat is and what it does to men and women.
Other presidents .................you know guy maybe all prezes should be required to have one day combat duty to be on point as 6 hour fire fight broke out being out numbered 2 to 1. Bet things would be different.

http://www.newshounds.us/2007/08/26/proo...fending_him.php"Nugent received student deferments in 1967 (1-S) and 1968 (2-S). But according to the Internet Movie Data Base website, Nugent has been “performing professionally since 1958, non-stop yearly touring since 1967, averaging more than 300 shows per year '67-73.” Hmm, that would include the two years he was supposedly too wrapped up in his studies to be serving his country." ..."that hasn’t stopped Nugent from insisting that if he HAD served, he would have been one big mofo soldier. As the Rutland Herald reported, Here's what Nugent said he would have done if he went to Vietnam: "… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."" Real American Genius/Hero. Seems to me 'The Nuge' watched Full Metal Jacket a few times and decided he's Animal Mother. vs The sad truth:

'guy,
Some people can smell trouble a mile away, others couldn't,despite their nose(s) being rubbed in very same.
As to Personal/Political decisions of fully four decades of age,I'd not care to be the Psychotherapist who juggles those mood swing(s). That's alotta bandwidth, much water under/over the bridge and all is fraught with supposition, frosted with copious [censored],even in the best case scenarios. Tough to deal with that...start to finish and "right" isn't even an option.
I've been blessed to know some exceedingly daring Warriors in the firsthand, none of whom I wish I knew only in passing. All should be as lucky,IMHO.
Politics is a ruse, due to the simplistic fact there are NO Ass Kickers in an serious runnings. Most overlook that. Who's the hardest ass we've had for President,in recent years? They are all sniveling suck-ups,catering to the mindless minions, hoping to ride a Magic Carpet to fame/fortune. (Reagan may be an exception of note.)
So in retrospect, weighing gain/loss,I personally believe Ted to be a stalwart of largely positive ideals. It hasn't [censored] to do with his hair,IMHO...or the number of Gooks he's killed via barehand(s). My perception is,that he's an astute working-class asshole, that has seen enough and has the means to weigh in accordance to same. Sure,MUCH of it is over the top(to me) and I ply the relative "grain of salt scale",as per always.
Do I think Ted could have derived a more common sense approach to our Nation's fiscal affairs,as opposed to Barak's handing out trillions of dollars like they were on fire?!!? Yes,I do.
Do I think Ted would turn up the heat on our Distant conflicts, then bring the boys home ASAP(and with a good feel for their Country?)? Yes,I do.
Some [censored] ain't hard.

I'd take the Revolutionary War,WWI,WWII and Hillary Clinton in no particular order and less defense to those who'd literally noble a Turkey.

I'd take issue with his embrace of the GLOCK.
Ergo's are ALL wrong.

Seems to me 'The Nuge' watched Full Metal Jacket a few times and decided he's Animal Mother. "Under fire. Animal Mother is one finest human beings to walk the earth. Just need someone to throw hand grenades at him for the rest of his life" One of my favorite movies of all time.

See my initial Reply to this Thread:
"He can make a lot of sense, but enjoys his own nonsense too much,to be taken seriously by the masses.
Shame."
