Has anyone here recieved a photo ticket from a Fife traffic cam? I just got one in the mail. I rarely go to Fife because of the highway harrassment I have gotten in the past from their officers. I got a ticket for making a right turn from a right turn lane. My stop was not a complete 3 seconds but a mere 1.97seconds. I cant believe this sh!t. Now my only options are to pay the fine to the tune of $124, or contest it and take it to court. Which will likely result in lost wages for the day and the possibility of a lesser fine. Fife has a reputation for the worst town to drive in in this area. I have a perfect driving record and when in fife I am always on full alert, buckled, not talking on a phone, basically being a textbook safe driver and this is the sh!t they pull to extort money from people. I urge everyone to boycott the whole city of Fife. Dont spend a single red cent there. Dont even look at the Sh!thole when passing it on the highway.Sorry for sounding a like a hothead but this one got me fired up. Over the years I have had very few traffic violations and over 50% of them have been in Fife. Is anyone aware of a petition to outlaw traffic violation cameras? I can see their use in the investigation of an accident. But this feels like abuse of power. The city taking advantage of the public. I feel that my tax dollars would be better spent getting the tweekers off the streets, maybe following up on some of the leads to a stolen kicker, rather than just putting up a camera and handing out tickets without even having to step away from their donuts. The only thing I can do to combat Fife is not go there and I urge everyone in the state to do the same. . Anyway, sorry again for ranting but I hopes this helps prevent anyone else from getting butt-raped by the city of Fife and their keystone cops. Rant off. I will probably pull this when I cool off. Consider this a word to the wise and stay the hell out of Fife.

Sounds like you should be able to beat that. A stop is a stop. Cities are also installing speed cameras especially in school zones. There are lawsuits out there against wa st cities claiming they entered into deals with camera manufacturers in order to turn a profit and that the infraction amounts are illegal as state law requires camera fines to be no more than a parking ticket. If those are successful cities won't be so interested in cameras until the legislature, which is inevitable, changes state law. Here's one law firm willing to add you to their suit: http://www.rosenlegalfirm.com/contact_us2.php#pe

Bremerton has cameras at some intersections. Most of the violations have been either because of 'California stops' or stopping over the white line before turning right. The intersections do have a sign that states there's a camera at that intersection.

We have them at every light in town in silverdale. I thought they only were for running the reds rather than stops and the what not. Now they have speeding cameras as well huh?........what a bunch crap.
Why is it we can not seem to vote these idiots that do this type of thing out of office. I love that we are all broke and they still have the money to put a camera on each and every light in town. Fine way to extract some money out of hard working tax payers for some meaningless violation.
Like to give each of them a big fat GFYS.

I remember a conversation here not long ago about wiretapping American citizens. It was the opinion of many here that law abiding citizens had nothing to worry about.
I wonder if that same attitude applies now...

I spoke with a Fife "officer" and he told me that the violations are treated like a parking violation to which I replied, I have never seen or heard of a $124 parking ticket. That statement was obviously not worthy of a reply or comment. Bonney Lake had a few speed traps a couple years ago. the equipment was owned by an independant company and the deal was they would split the money with the city from all of the violations. Not sure what ever became of that deal but the cameras are gone.

I got one in Tacoma for rolling thru a stop sign. The funny thing is, my registration has my name spelled wrong. I haven't responded yet because I don't think there is anyway they can try to collect. The person they want doesn't exist. I guess they can put it to collections and will find out there is no one by that name. I probably will do something about it, but not sure that I should. The thing that really pisses me off is that there are two names on the registration, but only the one that is supposed to be mine gets a ticket. My wife can go scott free. Seems to me that should be grounds for making the tickets illegal. I would love to be an attorney. For me it would be a blast appealing everyone of these every way possible and let the city and state spend there time and money fighting it.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I don't have much tolerance for school-zone speeders, either.
Look, it's 1/4 mile long. If you go 20, instead of 35, it will cost you 4 seconds on the way to work.
Slow the f'ck down in school zones...............and get your head out of your ass and watch for the flashing red lights on the school buses.

What really pisses me off are school zones that post signs "Speed Limit 20mph 6am to 8pm" What ever happened to "When children are present?" Here in Gig Harbor, I have witnessed (in the passenger seat) a ticket for "speeding in a school zone" (23mph in a 20mph zone) on a Saturday afternoon. Officer said, "It is non-disputable in court." Absolute BS........
First and only ticket- 1982. Ticketing someone for going 23 in a 20 is chickensht Even on a school day, let alone a Saturday. It's EXTREMLY important to go slow to protect our most cherished gifts. They aren't paying attention so we must. "Go slow my friends"

I don't live in Fife, nor have I received a ticket there, but it occurs to me that a lot of the talk in this thread falls under the category of "Poor, poor, pitiful me."
Bullshooter states this in his post - "I have a perfect driving record" and then 4 lines later states, "Over the years I have had very few traffic violations and over 50% of them have been in Fife." With my rudimentary understanding of math, that means that he has had at least 3 traffic violations - hardly a perfect driving record. So, methinks that Bullshooter has some other issues to clear up.
But, don't let me stop the pity party. After all, victimhood is practically an American religion.

I don't like traffic cameras all that much, either, but it's kinda hard to call it "entrapment" when you roll through a stop light and get busted...and it's also hard to have pity for someone who does so. Fish on... Todd P.S. No need for me to boycott Fife...except for the occasional visit to Sportco, I can't really think of any reason to ever be there

I DO have a spotless driving record. Not even a parking ticket. I also have an intense dislike of traffic cameras, wiretapping, illegal searches, invasion of privacy and in general, most government attacks on my liberty or wallet. The people I pity are those of you who willingly accept MORE government intrusion in your lives just to make it easier to collect or punish anyone caught in the nets of entrapment. +1 Fricken sheeple...... PS----Don't come with the whole Bush line of Patriot act bullchit because I NEVER was for it.

In many areas the school zones are a joke. In lakewood they have a zone for a private school located in church. I believe the speed limit is a 8:00 to 5:00 deal, but it most certianly is not when children are present, because.... the funny thing is, I have never seen a kid in the area. I wouldn't be surprised to see that fewer than 100 kids attend and doubt it is higher than 30. For the neighborhood it is in, I would also be surprised if any of the children do walk home, but on that I could be wrong. If I remember right they had made over $400,000 in tickets at that school alone. (I would love it if anyone had the full number).
I would be ok with the fees if they just made the jurisdictions show that every cent made went directly into safety programs for the schools. No reason not to. With cameras there is no expense after the cost of the contract.
The fact is, the whole thing is about money. I asked what happens if an officer gets caught. If he is not on a call they will write him a repremand. Wow. Didn't know the law was only for some people.
In case you are wondering, yes I did get a ticket in Lakewood. Every major street in town has a school zone on it, you just can't usually see the school. Now they have flashing signs at most, so there really is no excuse, but I got a $480 ticket for going 36 (35 zone). Its a five lane road with a 100 yard school zone for a school you can't see. The sign at the time was pushed up against a shrub about 50 feet past a lighted intersection. When I pulled up to the light there was a semi trailer and 2 school busses at the light. When the light changed I pulled around them and drove up past them on the inside lane. As I passed the semi an officer hit me with the radar. By then I was past the enterance to the school you couldn't see and there was no possible way to see the school zone sign unless you knew it was there. None! But, in Washington state there is no mitigation for school zones. Prove you didn't do it or pay the entire amount.
On a side note.,.. One of the proudest day's I ever had was when I went to court and showed the judge they hadn't validated there radar guns. One by one he started dismissing tickets. In the half hour there I watched over $10,000 in tickets tossed out. I comptimplated showing up every day for a couple of weeks but decided I had had enough fun.

Not asking for your pity Eddio, simply ranting as everyone else does and pointing out that Fife is a high risk enviornment for a traffic violation. Feel free not to heed my warning. Also let me clarify my "perfect driving record" Spotless for the last 7 years and recieving the best possible insurance rate. Meaning there are no moving violations or accidents as far back as insurance looks. I'm no angel, I was a teen-ager and had a muscle car or two and paid insurance thru the nose when I was younger. I bet I'm not the only one here. Please feel free to nit-pick at any other statements in my post and I will elaborate. +1 what Todd said about Sportco. I'm kinda stuck there. Thats why I was in Fife in the first place. P.S. Please slow down in school zones.
