I recently switched my boat to a tiller and took the remote controls out. The controls came new on a 1998 mercury 115 hp jet. The brand is called "quicksilver". The unit has two keys, a fast idle, and power trim switch. I also have the remote steering cables including the gear part that the steering wheel bolts too. This would be perfect for someone fixing their own set up. I have not priced this but I would guess the set up would easily be around $300-400. I live in Northern California and the unit would have to be mailed.

yes its a "t" type handle, with the power trim where your thumb would go. As far as your second question, I was able to trim the motor all the way up with the remote. I also have a power trim on the side of my mercury.

Well not the same set up I was looking for but I could use the thumb switch if you are going to throw it away
