Thought I'd take the kids there next year. Is there a fishery there, or is it dead water in that area? Anyone ever stay in hte cabins? Tips and advice appreciated.

I have a buddy from Portland who loves to take his family there and stay in the cabins done it 3-4 times over the past 12 months. In season, crabbing is pretty good. Good blackmouth fishing nearby.

No clue about the beach fishing but real nice campsites and the boat ramp is good at all but the lowest tides. I use it a lot during winter blackmouth and is an excellent fishery for small boats. Lots and lots of seals and sea lions though. Getting smart too as they're watching the gear now instead of the angler. Had a couple of 10#'ers last year that where bittin in half seconds after the release! Ouch!

I rented 4 cabins for a weekend 1 month ago. friends and family. Get one of the two southern delux cabins. way more private. there's a pretty high concrete bulkhead in front of the other cabins also that makes it hard to get to the beach.

I came by boat. you can anchor off but its not a good anchorage. lots of thick flat leaf weed and small round rocks.

dogs have to be leashed all the time and the rangers nail you for it.

Its windy, as is the west side of camano most of the time, but only in the afternoon.

Sunsets were pretty, as is anywhere facing west.

Lots of people not staying there just show up to swim and use the boat launch.

I trolled one morning in front of the cabins and then ran over to baby island. Nothing. Ranger said he sees guys trolling but not catching. That was a sunday morning that turned out to be one of the hottest coho days of the summer on possession and scatchet head.

Dont use the center for wooden boats buoys. I was told it was cool to use one by a guy there, then had a really negative experience with the kid who runs the center who came down the next morning and told me that was his buoy and I needed to make a donation to the center and then get off the buoy immediately. I now have nothing good to say about the center for wooden boats.

good luck.
