If Palin were the first politician to have double standards, this would be interesting. She isn't and it isn't.
There are a whole lot worse out there, like that AHOLE Edwards, but I don't see a thread about his BS, which is FAR worse.
Yeah, he's a knucklehead, but his damage was within his family. Palin's potential damage could be nationwide.

Top two for nomination? What?
I already got my 2012 ballot from the Acorn people. I wrote in Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. Does it matter which is for president?

It probably doesn't mater a whole lot, because if year one is any indication, Barry isn't going to have a snowballs chance in hell at re-election, regardless who runs against him. Jimmy Carter ..... ring any bells???

Yep, you're right. That rings a lot of bells. Carter's predecessor got us into two wars, ran up incredible deficits, and left with absolutely no plan to pay for what he started.
Now that I think about it, it's exactly the same situation Clinton left Bush in, you know with no wars and a surplus and... uh, hmmm...

I wrote in Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. Does it matter which is for president? From you? Probably not. I doubt you could even draw a straight line to correctly mark your ballot....if you could I've no doubt you'd do it with crayon.

Wow Wal1ter, You really need to do some home work.Bill Clinton didn't balance the budget. Yes, he was there when it happened. But the record shows that was about the extent of his contribution. The year of the giant Clinton tax hike -- was not the turning point in the deficit wars, either. In fact, in 1995, two years after that tax hike, the budget baseline submitted by the president's own Office of Management and Budget and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted $200 billion deficits for as far as the eye could see. The figure shows the Clinton deficit baseline. What changed this bleak outlook? Newt Gingrich and company -- for all their faults -- have received virtually no credit for balancing the budget. THe surplus was, a byproduct of the GOP's single-minded crusade to end 30 years of red ink. Arguably, Gingrich's finest hour as Speaker came in March 1995 when he rallied the entire Republican House caucus behind the idea of eliminating the deficit within seven years. Recall that it was the Clinton White House that fought Republicans every inch of the way in balancing the budget in 1995. When Republicans proposed their own balanced-budget plan, the White House waged a shameless Mediscare campaign to torpedo the plan -- a campaign that the Washington Post slammed as "pure demagoguery." It was Bill Clinton who, during the big budget fight in 1995, had to submit not one, not two, but five budgets until he begrudgingly matched the GOP's balanced-budget plan. In fact, during the height of the budget wars in the summer of 1995, the Clinton administration admitted that "balancing the budget is not one of our top priorities."
And if Bill Clinton didn't get us into "wars", okay we didn't call them wars, they were "conflicts", explain this ........ U.S. Military Deaths by year: 1980 ......... 2,392 >> 1981 ......... 2,380 >> 1984 ......... 1,999 >> 1988 ......... 1,819 >> 1989 ......... 1,636 >> 1990 ......... 1,508 >> 1991 ......... 1,787 >> 1992 ......... 1,293 --------------------------- >> 1993 ......... 1,213 >> 1994 ......... 1,075 >> 1995 ......... 2,465 >> 1996 ......... 2,318 Clinton years @13,417 deaths >> 1997 ......... 817 >> 1998 ......... 2,252 >> 1999 ......... 1,984 --------------------------- >> 2000 ......... 1,983 >> 2001 ......... 890 >> 2002 ......... 1,007 7 BUSH years @9,016 deaths >> 2003 ......... 1,410 >> 2004 ......... 1,887 >> 2005 ......... 919 >> 2006 ......... 920 ---------------------------
Uh, hmmm....

THanks KK, that shows the point exactly! The big drops in deficit spending started in '95 with the GOP controlled house and Senate, the "Contract With America".

So it was the Democrats who balanced the budget and the GOP that ran up massive debt, or was it the GOP who balanced the budget and the Democrats who ran up massive debt? Face it, 98% of you voted for President based on the D or the R next to the guy's name. Otherwise, you have jumped on the bandwagon with me and Andy and voted for Ron Paul. A little kooky, maybe, but the only one who wasn't a "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" kind of guy. I mostly blame the GOP for not making RP the nominee, and instead going with McCain, who I actually find to be as decent a man as you can be in Congress, and Sarah Palin, who couldn't find her own ass with two hands and a flashlight. The Palin VP choice was so preposterous that it scrubbed any chance of me voting for the GOP ticket. And then there's Obama. Straight outta Chicago, where politicians tend to be as crooked as a dog's hind leg. A meteoric rise, with little track record to back it up. The VP choice was head and shoulders better than the opposition's choice, but still nothing to get excited about. But I didn't vote for Obama, because I felt that as the DNC poster child, he'd come in and pander to the left side of the party, who have always bugged me as a guy who mostly votes Democrat, but owns guns and likes to kill sh!t, and have people leave me the hell alone about what I eat/drink/smoke/shoot/wear/listen to. The Tipper Gores and Nancy Pelosis of the party rub me wrong. So that's why I voted for RP. Me and 172 others nationwide. And here we sit wondering why nothing's changed. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

Phuckin' makin' me feel bad for not voting for RP...I wanted him but didn't want to be number 173......that's my unlucky number...always has been since January of '73.wink

"Wow Wal1ter, You really need to do some home work.Bill Clinton didn't balance the budget. Yes, he was there when it happened."
So let's apply the "there when it happened" reasoning To George Bush. Only the greatest loss of life to foreign attack, ever, on U.S. soil and the largest economic disaster since the Great Depression.
But hey,he was only "there when it happened." Not like that matters or anything.
"the GOP's single-minded crusade to end 30 years of red ink" Where exactly, is that evident from 2001 to 2009? I sure as hell couldn't find it. It looks more like, under Bush, they spent like drunken sailors in a foreign port.

Count me on Hankster's side on this - well, sort of. I think the facts are Bush DID spend like a drunken sailor. The facts are Obama has done so to date. Now as to the why. Bush spent like crazy to fund a completely dishonest and unnecessary war. Obama is spending like a drunken sailor on speed, in part to wrap up that unnecessary war, in part to stop the complete fiscal meltdown Bush left us with and in part because he likes to spend. Both were bad for us. Obama’s will be worse, IF he can’t put the brakes on. He’s talking about doing it but we all know ever voter has his or her pet projects they dont want cut. It’s going to be tough to bring the deficit down, especially with aging baby boomers wanting their Medicare and Social Security, Iraq and Afghan vets needing care and Vietnam vets aging and needing more care. But IMHO we MUST rein in the spending. I'm not optimistic.

Hankster, according to your stats Bush increased debt. Do you have any stats to show he increased debt in some sustainable manner? It appears he increasede debt unsustainably.
And, according to what you posted, "Congressional Budget Office estimated that public debt will rise." under OBama.
I'm guessing that every single year of Bush's administration the Congressional Budget Office estimated the same exact thing.
How, exactly, is Obama different?

But IMHO we MUST rein in the spending. I'm not optimistic. Us aging Boomers will start with the SS and Medicare next year with 1.5 million new recipients and 1.2 million more every year. Our parents were pretty prolific during the post-war years... I'm actually sorta looking forward to the stupid looks on Baby Boomer's faces when they finally realize they've squandered their retirements on a lifetime of voting for taxcuts and dikhead politicians just so they could buy H2's on credit and other cheap selfish greedy avarice.
