Gotta get this off my chest.
It seems that most services I purchase, which are few because do most of my repairs, make things myself, etc, are crap these days.
Example A: Three weeks ago my wife had her girlfriends over for some cocktails, and they did their nails on our birch lacquered kitchen table, and got nail polish remover on the finish, bleaching it out.
I call this 35ish y.o. guy, Woodinville Woodworks, who says he has been refinishing wood and building sh!t for 20 years to refinish the table.
He says he can match the lacquer perfect, no problem, I'll be 100% satisfied, so I agree to let him take the table top and refinish.
It comes back and looks like [censored], and now I have to look at going to Daly's in Bellevue to match the lacquer myself, and re-srpay it, again myself..to try to make it right. He didnt do a good job, and I feel like he tried to whip it out and when it didnt look right, didnt put any effort into trying harder to come up with a quality finish.
I'm Fuc#!ed outta that money. He sucks, and I think I got jacked because he didn't try hard or take any pride in his work.
Then today, I had a cake made that I commissioned through a young lady who is in the Seattle Art institute culinary desserts program. I wanted a special cake for my little girls birthday in Hello Kitty theme, so I met this gal last week and we discussed the design. She showed me her portfolio with a bunch of really nice intricately designed cakes, so I think I'm going to get a top notch cake for my money.
She shows up today, and the cake looks totally plain, not what we discussed at all...and it looks like she spent about an hour on it instead of taking some time to really make it look great.
Again, I could have done WAY better myself!!!!!
It seem that young people these days don't take pride in their work at all, or care to make sure that the product they deliver is worthy..
All this Adds merit to the old saying,. if you want it done right, do it yourself /rant.
