You may think you know where you stand, politically, but the result from this short test may surprise you and give you some food for thought.

You're asked 10 questions, and then it instantly tells you where you stand politically. It shows your position as a red dot on a "political map" so you'll see exactly where you score.

The most interesting thing about the Quiz is that it goes beyond Democrat, Republican, Independent.

The Quiz receives lots of praise. The Washington Post says it has "gained respect as a valid measure of a person's political leanings." The Fraser Institute says it's "a fast, fun, and accurate assessment of a person's overall political views." Suite University said it's the "most concise and accurate political quiz out there."

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 70%

Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 60%

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

CENTRIST

Centrist prefer a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

Puts me almost dead center, on the very top line right between Centrist and Libertarian.

Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 20%

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

Huh? I thought I was more centrist than that. At least that's how I've scored on two other tests that had a lot more than 10 questions.

I think it said something like (and I'm paraphrasing) that my decision is based solely on the issue, open mindedness, middle of the road.

I guess that makes sense as I don't really consider myself affiliated with any political party. I try and look at where a person stands on issues before I see what party he/she represents.

I guess some might consider that fence sitting but I always figured it to be common sense.
