Landed my first summer run steely this morning on my way to work. He was about 10lbs. I was using a small spinner on my 10.5ft GL3 with 8lb line. What a blast.
Now that I know where they are, I'm going to try my luck with my fly rod.

I just started trying for steelhead this past winter. I hooked 1 on the green and lost it after a very long fight, and a month later I caught and released a 12lb wild hen on the snoqualmie using a float and jig (on my way to work smile

Sorry this isn't about lake fishing, but I this forum could use a little 'pick-me-up'...

Nice job, chadk. Were your fish bright, or had they been in the river a while? Are you seeing many other people out on the water?

The fish were showing some color. Nice red cheeks and side stripes. I did see a chromer of about 6lbs jump (2 times) right in front of me.

There is a little pressure on the river. Mostly fly fisherman.

Does anyone know if any salmon run up the Snoqualmie? If so, how far up do they go?

Thanks for the info, chadk. Again, congrats on your fish. In sad, ugly times like these, sometimes the best we can do is find joy in the small things...like glorious summer steelhead. The Snoqualmie does get salmon, but it's a "selective gear rules" fishery, I believe. Check the WDFW website.

Tight lines.

Thanks for the info HSL. I usually fly fish or use spinners/spoons with single barbless hooks anyway, so I'm not concerned with the selective rules. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has experience fishing for salmon on this river though (techniques, general areas to look, etc...).

Yes, it just demonstrates how great our country is - that on the average day, my biggest concern is "where do I want to fish today?" Thanks to those who have stood up for our country and given there lives for our freedom!
