I fished and explored Kanasket-Palmer one time with a friend of mine last year. I have fished Metzler's several times with no luck. I guess I just have not got the jist-of-it yet. Maybe this year! I know there are a lot of native fish (Chums) at the Headworks Dam later in December. Good sporting fish, not good for the dinner table though. My friend does really well with white Rooster Tails or a bobber and orange or pink Maibou jig.

Say Carl, think you better hit it out there with the rest of fishing fools this weekend. May just about to peter out. Been catching and realeasing quite a few more dark fish but the tide is perfect. Did pull up a beautiful brite silver up to the bank and thought it was a steelie. No I didn't catch it with a rod and reel, but found it belly up down from where I was. Close to around 20#, and I'm not full of bull or had too much beer. Wished someone was able to enjoy the fish or at least go up river to spawn. Just wonder if this might be a good sign of things to come. laugh laugh

You lost me there guy,
Did I mis-read your post?
You wonder if finding a big bright beautiful silver belly-up may be a good sign of things to come?

I fished the Green up by Hwy 18 yesterday around 11 AM. Within an hour I had myself a nice 7lb hen. The eggs were still in excellent shape. There were a lot of fish and a lot of fisherman. I used a flaming orange corky and yarn below a swivel and a worm weight (bullet sinker) just like you would use for trout. There are some snags, one in particular, a large tree right in front of every one fishing. The bullet sinker keeps you from getting snagged. People were losing gear all over the place, I did not lose any gear.
I had a good day!

I fished the Green last night right by the mouth of Soos Creek. Just as dark was settling in I hooked into a nice 10 1/2lb (according to my Berkley digital scale) buck. He was red but the meat was good. I did see another guy catch a small steelhead also. There were lots of kids fishing and catching in the Soos, every one was having a good time. smile

raincity, what I meant to say was to see a large silver like that, (especially on the green) was good, but not the belly-up part. I have friends still hooking up with silvers in the salts. And that tells me they're got to be going up, and yes, me and the crew were getting fish, but dark, up until the river went out. Had to go fish up high where Carl was. Seemed like all the fish were stacked on the creek side, but wasn't too much room left to fish. River did come down near the hatchery about a foot Tues. Guys must be desparate cause we're watching the ones fishing at the mouth tossing their gear up the creek. Don't know if ya really want to call that fishing. Anyways with the tides not right and the level high, don't think I'll be hitting the Green any time soon. Got to get my home projects done before the Chummlies get thick, unless I get word on how good it was.........

I fished the Green up at Hwy 18 yesterday afternoon. In a hour and a half I had two fish. I released them both because they were not in the best of shape. There was a guy fishing next to me and he legally hooked into a fairly chrome fish. NICE!
I don't understand people who SNAG and keep fish. Are they desperate for a meal? mad I inadvertantly snag fish too but I let them go. Very few fish that far up the river are worthy of the dinner table any way.

Carl,
You aren`t the only who doesn`t understand it guy.
I have never been able to figure it out myself.
Shoot, the satisfaction is in catching and winning the battle with the darn thing, not snagging it by the hiney. rolleyes

Well Carl & RC, if you guys don't like the crowds up there, chums are holding down lower in the river as we speak. So far the plunkers have been doing pretty good. Silvers are still getting caught and they're brite fatties, at least the ones I've seen. Nets are still out during the weekdays, but, the fishes obviously got past the gauntlet. Saw the papers and the wdfw site had the big write ups on how great the chums are supposed to be in the puget sound.........

Pretty crowded down at Hwy 18 this morning! A lot of crossed lines frown The fishing was not all that great either. I hooked into two bruisers that managed to free themselves. I have found the fishing to be better in the evening just before sunset.
