No not that kind, get you minds out of the gutter!

I have a gal who wants the inside of her home painted.

She wants a bid. Painting is the one trade that I have always done myself and have normally just included it in the project bid or done time and materials. Does anyone out there have a clue on say $/sq ft?

I have furnishings to move and wall repairs to be made and textures to be matched, that I can charge by the hour. But just the painting has always been a mystery, the painting contractors, that I know, are like roofers. That is, unwilling to give a price w/o making it a firm bid.

I need the work, the lady is a friend, I want to give her a fair price that we can both be satisfied with.

and the ceiling is all vaulted

Years ago I figured $1 per sq ft on the floor area. A friend of the lady that I supported for 35years, went into the faux painting business. She axed me how much to charge for plain old painting like we are talking about here.

I told here about $1 sq ft........she went on to charge that based on the painted footage......and you buy the paint! Kind of ran herself out of the business but she sure made some money in Gig Harbor (for awhile)

Just moved into a new house and had a painter come out and paint the entry way because it was going to be to big of a hassel fo me to do it. He charged me $23 per hour, I thought was fair since it was a pain in the ass to do. Lots and up and down the ladder and ladder blocks heading up the stairway, Cielings are about 14'+ in the entry. I painted the rest of the interior or at least I am in the process of doing it smile
