As most of you know, I work powerline construction and when it storms we go out and work. This past week we had an 82 hour week in 5 days. Really 4 days as the 5 hours on Saturday was just drive time. What we do is work a straight 40 hour shift, take 8 hours off and then go to an 18 hour on 6 off shift till the works done! Anyways, Thanksgiving we were into our second 18 hour shift and decided finally about 9 to go eat dinner. Only place open was the Casino at Suquamish. No issues there but when my boss called our big boss he said No as the Utility had gotten complaints from a MEDIA outlet, AKA- news channel that the crews were at a Casino instead of working. Can U believe this horseshit the media came up with? Here we are, away from our familys on another Holiday and we cant even eat? What a crock, I'd love to drag the media around with us and show em how hard we do work. Bastards,, anyways,, enough said as we ended up eating at Sharis instead. Thanks to all the fine folks on Bainbridge Island who brought us Coffee, Pie and other goodies! Much appreciated!

Don't blame the media, blame your big boss for not having the sack to tell the media to phuque off. He could have easily made the argument that you were doing the fiscally responsible thing by eating at the nearest open establishment, rather than wasting time and resources by driving all over the county looking for a media-deemed PC diner.

Your big boss sounds like the type of management that needs to be thinned from the herd.


Oh, and by the way, thanks for being out there when it totally sucks just to keep the rest of us warm and out of the dark. I appreciate the hell out of the work guys like you do.

Wasnt my big boss, it w as coming from the Utility we were contracting for. My big boss is a great guy. We just have to folow the rules where we are working.
