Doc!!!!! Really?! What about Jerry Mckinnis and his little dochsund Norman? That show was great! grin

I thoroughly enjoyed fishing the west. It brings back memories of a simpler time fishing without all the hype. Good call.

You know there was always a closing line at the end of that show dedicated to Jerry's Dad.... something like "this one's for my dad.... he ALWAYS had time to take me fishing"

It's a line that I really took to heart as my dad NEVER had the time to take me fishing... too busy workin'.

That wasn't gonna happen to my kids.

I like the show myself, I enjoy watching a show about places that I'm familiar with, what else do we have about local fishing? maybe someone could produce a show on fishing wild steelhead where no fish died, I'd watch it too.

If you have been fishing for any real amount of time i'd bet you have bonked a nate, if not it was because you did't fish back in the day when their were better numbers. I know I have killed more than my fair share, so thats part of the reason I dont even fish for them anymore, but i'd bet most of you fish for them knowing that some of the fish you hook might not make it, but you still fish for them right?

From what i heard the fish in question was a legal caught fish, like it or not what can we do. If you don't like the show don't watch it or make your own show. or even better go out and fish and quit bashing people trying to make a living. sorry it's just my .02

Chuck, good luck making the world see everything your way. I gave up on that long ago. I'm just thinking maybe that bashing somebody's livelyhood in public isn't the best way to get your/our point across. While i've been a supporter of wild steelhead recovery, things like this make me wonder about others that feel the same way. We might be getting a bit full of ourselves and loosing sight. there are numerous things in the fishing world that are legal and might not be right, where does your fight end, tribal netting? I made the ultimate sacrafice for wild steelhead, I quit fishing for them all togeather. there are other options out there Feb - May trust me.

Like i said in my first post "I like the show" so to bash them in a way I felt was bashing me hence my post. good luck out there!

I remember that now! Wow, that had an effect on me when I was young. Good on you for spending quality time with your kids.

A bit off topic, but not. I was just looking at the wdfw and the numbers of wild steelhead that were killed last year is astonishing. One river had 107 followed by another with 88 killed. Most are from boats on rivers that are said to not be easily floated by novices. With that said are these guides endorsing the killing of these fish? Or do you guys think these are predominately sport fishers?

Todd / Francis ... Thanks for the greeting. It is nice to know someone remembers the good old days here. I do drop in for a look every few months but have lost interest in the politics of fishing. Nothing really changes much but I offer thanks to those who keep up the good fight. There are many fine and respectable folks here even though most have failed to savour the wonderful flavor a nice bright 40 incher like the one in my avatar. umbrella

My best to you all and Good fishing! - Plunk beer

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Those pics are from the 70's, Einstein, not 2002. How were you supposed to ID a wild fish in the 70's?

2002 wasn't very f'n long ago, and if that's when you decided to stop bashing wild fish, then you're a slow f'n learner.

I'm not sure I really want to jump in on this one, but it's too tempting not too! Plain and simple it's a matter of ethics. Obviously back in 2002 or whenever the video was shot Glen could bonk a wild fish and still be able to sleep at night. I may not agree with Glens decision, but it was in fact completely legal to do so, but ethically was it the right thing to do? Absolutely not... The Hoh episode just reinforces anyones questionable judgement upon him and his show. I'm not a fan of Glen, he had a booth behind mine at the sportsman show, and the guy gave me a headache everyday... To make it worse we have a lot of mutual friends and I've had the opportunity to hear his justifications a number of times. I'm not really interested in any of it. Maybe some people will change their minds when it comes to paying his wages... just sayin

Glen hall like Larry Shoenborn... hmmm not even close. Old larry and his very mellow demeiner, and Glen and his almost turbocharged persona... Hey FP, you took Larry down the WF for some steelhead, think you would have Glen riding shotgun on an upcoming trip? You don't have to answer that one... Anyways that's life. Some people rub people better than others... That doesn't sound good, but it's the truth.

My vote is for the Amato's to start up a new show, come on Nick you've got plenty of time! Ha Ha!

Todd, that [censored] was funny as hell! I'm using that one for sure!

Dan S. how's it going? it's been a while...

I've had the pleasure of working for Jerry and his team for the past several years, and I gotta tell you, for a hillbilly from Arkansas, he's one helluva guy. He's a giant in the fishing industry, but a simple guy who's sincere "this one's for my dad" sign-off is one of the best ever.

I ran into a red sled today on the cow that had hawg quest and a bunch of other decals on it. The guys on the boat were pretty cool guys. No camera crew though.

I've known the Hawgquest guys since they started. That is a very old video, especially since Jim is in it. He has been gone for years. I didn't watch the entire video, but I know the Umpqua river is where he fished a lot and wild steelhead runs were in pretty good shape.
