http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdow...?urn=nfl-294916He fell all over himself apologizing and taking responsibility for it afterwards, and I suspect the league will seriously put a dent in his wallet, if not his time on the sidelines or in the gym over the next few weeks. MF'r's lucky Carrol didn't get up and kick his ass into January...or that his teammates didn't see what happened, and do it for him. Fish on... Todd

He should be on the unemployment lines tomorrow morning wondering how he's going to afford the fine. Even a bunch of ingrates like the Jets have got to see that keeping this guy on staff even one more day wold be a bad idea...Merry Christmas, jackass. Can you imagine if Carroll had been actually injured, instead of just bruised? Fish on... Todd

With up teen freaking cameras covering every game how did this Yahoo think he was going to get away with it.
The Loser should 've been banned and forced to get a real job, like making Lattes. Hope the player gets well enough to kickhisass.

If memory serves me well.In the 1970 Nfc championship game ,held at Kezar stadium.Craig Morton was replaced by Roger Staubach who promptly threw a interception. The 49er db who intercepted it was cruising down the sidelines for an easy score. Craig Morton stuck his foot out and tripped him.He got a 15 yard penalty but the niners didn't get the td. Niner's lost by 3.That was the end of it.No other action was taken.

I didn't know this until today, but apparently the guy who got tripped is called a "gunner". They are fast kick-off/punt coverage guys that run the sidelines (sometimes outside) to avoid blockers and try to get a clean shot on the return man. At the same time, the receiving team's sideline personnel will crowd the sidelines to try to deny the gunners running room.

Not trying to justify his actions in the least as that is a pretty chicken chit thing to do. However the player is totally out of bounds. Isn't there a rule that if a player goes out of bounds, he can't come back in and make a play (not that that justifies tripping a player). Also from the replay I can't see where he actually and intentionally trips the guy. It almost looks like the coach is standing there hunched over while the player, again running out of bounds runs into him? Regardless, he admitted to doing it so there you go but I can't tell from the replay that he intentionally trips the player. I thought there was one time where a coach actually went on the field and tackled a player with the ball to prevent him from scoring. That is actually pretty funny in a weird kinda way. I mean how do you ever live that down? SO you couldn't see him actually push his knee out into the way of the runner? Keith

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

You can't go out of bounds and then be the first to touch the ball.
Gunners aren't looking to touch the football.
Coach needs to figure out that there are cameras everywhere these days.
