Should Federal Agencies be able to punish employees who report corruption, waste and mismanagement?

The bill is currently held up, largely by using scare tactics. I find it hypocritical to talk of "reform", "wasting tax dollars", etc. and then not aim to protect the very people that have the inside knowledge and ability to report the misdeeds.

The hang up is the concern on how a leak like in the Wikileaks scandal would be handled. I have not read the bill so I don't know if the fear is founded or not, but many of these Republicans have supported similar bills in the past, so it's not as partisan as it appears.

Three years ago, Issa and more than 100 other Republicans had voted for a version of whistle-blower protection legislation that ultimately didn't make it through Congress.

Whistle-blower legislation is a nice thought, but completely irrelevant in practice. If the policy mucky-poobahs want your ass, they'll get it, and no whistle-blower or anything else will save it. Seen it happen.
