End of January I'm headed to Puerto Escondito, but can't seem to get a good feel for the fishing. A good bunch of the Americans there are of the ex-pat, black helicopter believing, gamma ray dodging, burnt out hippie variety, and they don't seem to know sh!t about fishing. The locals tell great stories, but photos are few and far between. Mostly interested in tuna, dorado, roosters, maybe some sails. Anybody got the feel for this place?

I have fished it. Didn't see much of the type folks you describe. Did see, lots of topless women. A bit farther south, at Puerto Angle, they were completly nude. Problem is the nude guys distracted from the nude women. (You are talking the one near the southern border of Mexico?)

Fishing from a panga for various inshore species was off the hook. We also got into a lot of smallish tuna 15-30 lbs . Saw no sails or roosters.

So the nude guys were a distraction huh Dave?? Kinda like Springer fishing??

Worse - they were clopse up.

Kinda funny my buddy kept giving his wife shait at the topless beach saying things like "They are all shapes and sizes." When we got to Puerto Angle, where everyone was nude, she more thna got even. He wanted to leave soon after we arrived.

Yes, the same Puerto. The first time down we did all the tourist stuff, visiting the turtle sanctuary, Oaxaca city, etc. Peurto Angel is where the Marine base is? This time I hope to do a little fishing.

I always had that place on my surf destination list. They call it the Mexican pipe. I wouldn't do it now though.
