I didn't follow the UW alcohol thing very well so maybe I shouldn't comment but following Chuck S logic (what's he been convicted of?), if he has NOT been convicted yet (I don't know) and Romar kept him out of the the PAC 10 tournament (again, I don't think he played) then that is at least SOME acknowledgement by the university. The degree of punishment is administered by the school. We saw varying degrees of school administration for wrong doing recently.

The extremes:

WSU-one game suspension on your best player for illegal posession of a controlled substance (don't know if he was convicted or not).

BYU-suspended their second best player for the remainder of the season right before the tournament for having consensual sex with his girlfriend, thereby violoating their honor code.

UW-suspended one of their top players for three games during PAC 10 tournament.

Again I don't know if all the facts are correct but if so, it seems like the UW suspension seems to fit the pretty well with some of the other suspensions handed out by various schools.

Coach K got his 900th win today, that's 30 years with 30 wins. Not a Puke fan, but that is an amazing feat.

Salmosalar,
Have you seen an NBA game there is no defense, they just try to figure out how to score more than the other team. Daley quit coaching 12 years ago the NBA game has changed since then..

Partially true...kinda. The rule allowing professionals to play in the Olympics did not occur until 1989, so the "Dream Team" was in 1992. And Coach K was an assistant coach on that team. Coach K has also been the head coach of the USA squad since 2005.

Defense in an NBA game? You must be kidding. They don't even play defense until the playoffs. Defense is played intensely from the tip to the ending buzzer in college ball; that's the reason the college game is so much better, IMO. Well, that and heart. Coaching in the NBA is more about managing/babysitting a bunch of crybaby millionaires than it is about X's and O's...and is the reason I don't watch it at all. I don't give a rat's ass about Lebron, Le Heat, Kobe, etc., etc.

I used to follow the NBA game closely...until I got sick of it. The Sonics leaving town probably had something to do with it too. To each his own, eh?

Hate to say I told you so there Flea (and Keith), but I told you so. Since Notre Dame is down by 21 with 12 minutes to play it's pretty safe to say that only 2 teams from the Big East will advance to the Sweet 16. And the only way those two teams (UConn and Marquette) advanced is by playing and knocking out another Big East team! So pathetic....

As opposed to other conferences with multiple teams in Sweet 16:
ACC - 3 out of 5 teams
MWC - 2 out of 3 teams
SEC - 2 out of 4 teams

Hey Committee, next year just increase the field to 80 teams so you can invite all 16 teams from the Big East and have 6 more lameass play-in games! mad

They ain't silver spoon fed... They're have the best coach, proves that a well trained group of white boys can beat anyone in the country..

I find it interesting that when the NBA Olympic "Dream team" needed a coach, they didn't choose an NBA coach, but rather Coach K... Says a lot about the differences between the NBA versus college ball...

Go Sox,
cds

I was talking about the current NBA olympic team that most recently went to Beijing and took gold. Didn't mean the original dream team in 88....

I agree to some extent, finding a way to guard a guy like Durant or Kobe or Carmelo is damn near impossible, but they just don't play great team help defense in the NBA like they do at the collegiate level.

My bracket went into the fire last night. Pretty pathetic picks on my part.

I did have the UW beating UNC. I thought they had the game to get it done.

I am way out of the running now. My Southeast bracket was pretty much all wrong. Since I have been pretty consistent in my office pool (top 1 or 2 every year). I am getting all kinds of sh!t flipped my direction for sucking it up so bad.

And what about VCU's total domination through 3 games. They have yet to be challenged so far.

Cougs look to get some pay back tonight. And show the world why they should've been selected to the big show. smile

Thanks for the heads up MF! I would have never known it was on. Probably a repeat but they are up 11 with 16 minutes left. It would be nice to see them win the NIT.

VCU was one of the teams the "experts" said should not have been invited and they have been playing with a HUGE chip on their shoulder...like a 5'1" cop that was teased and picked on all the way through HS.

Yup. I took a bigger beating than usual this year, and that's saying a lot. Guess I shouldn't have picked all those Big East teams after all. Honestly, I would have done better this year if I had put my bracket on a wall and thrown darts at it. At this point, all my rooting interests are out of the tourney, and my brackets are shot to hell. That said, I'll still be watching the VCUs of the world playing great team basketball and giving the powerhouse teams all they can handle or more. Fun stuff.

Whenever I play the brackets myself, I generally fair poorly.
I got entered into a nationwide sales contest at work and was assigned Florida St.
Their first two tournament wins got me a Flip HD video camera and an iPad.
I never was much of an FSU fan until now. Go Noles! thumbs
