I remember the first time I hit back at a bully when I was in the fifth grade...he was a sixth grader who was twice my size...one glancing blow to the temple and he started crying, sat on the ground and blubbered like a baby. Didn't even hurt my hand.
Bullies are pussies...that's why they're bullies.
I agree with the comments above, too...I've talked myself out of several "misunderstandings" in bars over the years by agreeing with the antagonist that he could indeed kick my ass...but that he'd have a busted nose, a broken arm, and would look like he got hit by a truck the next day. If wanted to count that as a "win", he was welcome to have at it. Not surprisingly, they haven't "had at it" yet.
Fish on...
Todd What he said. But sometimes they still have to be shown. Wish every body just left it behind in high school. Some never learn.

Bullies suck, and so do their stupid parents.
Correct Sir, most all Bullies are bullied at home.

If he was my kid I would have filed a law suit against the school for suspending him and put him in another school. I'll bet his reputation precedes him now and the bullying problem comes to a screeching halt!
You go Casey and hope you make bank after the lawsuit, way to show the little turd that street justice can be swift.

Saw that the scrawny turd tried to transfer the blame to Casey and also that Casey's Mom wants Casey to apologize to the bully.
No doubt both the kids' parents think they are right...........and there lies the problem.
Question for somethingsmells........where did you learn the term "makes bank"?

FP, I think what you are saying is at least partly true. I remember a younger freind who was going to Curtis High School. He had a real poor home life, was, and is, very ADD. One day he came to me and relayed how he had been having trouble in school. Seems he had a habit of being tardy. The principal pulled him into his office and started explaining to him that he would never be a sucess unless he followed all the rules and fit in with everyone else. Lack of compliance was deemed to failure. One must follow the rules to a tee, go to college, and conform to the rules of society, or one would fail. Problem is, my freind could never do that, and never has. At the time I asked him to consider Bill Gates and how well he conforms to the norms of soceity. The I asked him who made more, Bill Gates or the principal.
At 40 he is unmarried and can be flakey as possible; but He runs his own internet company and has always enjoyed life. He recently told me he was glad no one was ever able to drug him up and try to make him like everyone else.
I was lucky in that when I had problems in school from the same baloney, my principal actually stood up for me. After laying out the crud my teacher was doing, he sighed, then said.... "Yeah I know". He wrote me a note telling the teacher to quit, then said,"Every time you get down remember this, she is head of the local union and will be under my skin for the next 10 years. Consider yourself lucky." Always will remember the guy for his honesty and candor.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I'd like to know what percentage of US Nobel Prize winners were educated in public schools.
I bet it's higher than you think.
Public schools are often used an excuse for the stupid and unmotivated. Private schools would reject these people, but public schools can't.

BWP.........."Which of course brings me to fishprinces post...besides the archaic & monkey references, wonder how someone can delude themselves to think they are so much better than the ass they crawled out of."
FP's diddy is all about "being the most you can be" inspite of the pressure to conform to the masses.
And who steps up to spout "how dare you"? Why, it's the well-groomed defender of "Average is Good Enough", BWP.
Try to be a little bigger, will you? I know it's scary, but give it try.

"Average" is an arbitrary term...no matter what happens, half the people will be below it, half above...the key is to raise the average, by raising the skills and knowledge of everyone.
It's mathematically impossible to raise an entire group "above average", unless you're comparing their group average to some other group's average...education-wise, our American average is pretty lame compared to the average education level of other countries' kids, and that's where we're going to get our asses beaten...more.

Todd....not quite right, my friend. You refer to mean (average) as if it were median. Median will have half above the middle and half below.......not average.

The problem I see with public education today, and it wasn't this way when I went through, it that the "educators" of today don't really care if a kid isn't quite getting it at the lower levels. When my daughter was in the early grades and they were reading, the motto on the bigger words was "guess and go". In other words, and this came straight from her teacher's mouth, they don't want them to get hung up on a particular work. They would much rather have them guess and go so they can keep reading. My problem with that is that it taught them, and my daughter included, that when you see or come across something that is a little harder, give it a good guess and move on rather than spend the extra minute to figure it out for yourself and get it correct. I was livid! I couldn't believe what I was hearing, rather than TEACH, they would rather the kids guess on their own.
Now, they are so caught up in the WASL testing and the failure statistics that it is no longer PC to fail a kid in any grade until grade 12. That is where they get caught up in the "student weir" and are held until they can pass, or time out on age. Her senior class was full of "Super Seniors", or kids that couldn't graduate with their own classes and were held in high school for another year or two. Why? Because, in my opinion, the public school system did not place enough value on their early education to really teach them and instill in them problem solving and self-educating skills. Luckily, for my daughter, we supplemented her "public education" at home by helping her to learn what she should've learned in school. A lot of parents don't care to take the time with their own kids and they fall behind, some to never recover.
All schools care about is the numbers on paper, the statistics of failure rates, or how many asses are in the seats to qualify for funding the next year. They could really care less what those asses in the seats are learning, or if they are learning anything other than how to pass the WASL tests. It is a blatant disservice to we the taxpayers who fund the public school system.
