Lake Shasta - wow, what to say. Has great fishing, bass, panfish, trout, etc... it is a very big lake so if you don't have much time check out with some of the locals where the fishing is good and where it is not. Sometimes lake is drawn down low so launching can be a challenge if you are bringing a boat. Great place to rent a houseboat if you get the chance. There are lots of coves and bays on this lake and you may find a place where you can have the whole place to yourself all day. This lake would be comparable to Lake Washington in size if it were full. ( Well maybe not really but seems like it.) Good luck and bring back a report. ( Maybe report it under out of state lakes on washingtonlakes.com forum?) BTW - most people troll with weddingrings and flashers. Trout can be deep in the summer.

Myriad of fishing opportunities at Shasta. If you want to fish for the trout, I would recommend fishing the inlets to either the Sacramento or McCloud Rivers. Most folks fish deep with a flasher and big spoon (or other bait type lure) off downriggers. There is a guide that answer questions before you head out. Unfortunately I forget his name. However, I believe he is the owner of Shasta Tackle.

Shasta is definitly a great opportunity at a 10# plus Brown of Rainbow.....
