Fellow Pursuers,

I am on an egg hunt. I am looking for either ostrich or emu eggs. These will be used to freak out my family members and co-workers during the Easter season. Does anybody know where I can find some in the eastern Puget Sound region? We would like to eat them, so I don't have any use for the shell only. Just a couple are needed as they are each equal to two dozen chicken eggs and take an hour to hard boil.

Just down the road from my house (poulsbo). It's about a 10-20 drive from the bainbridge Island ferry.

There used to be a ostrich rancher out in the Enumclaw area, north edge of town.

I heard they do funny things to ostriches in Enumclaw rofl
I will try and see if I can find it. I have a few leads, but no eggs yet.
Thanks for the help Griz and DB.
On a side note... Am I the only one who thinks it would be hilarious to sneak a giant dyed ostrich egg into an Easter egg hunt?

I want to say the guy lived on SE 416th St between 212th Ave SE and 244th Ave SE, but it has been over 10 years since I have been there. House is off the road quite a ways but the Ostriches were visible from the road.

My kids would love that.

You could have an entire meal from one hard-boiled egg. That would actually be a pretty cool thing to have for a back-packing trip. Hard-boil one ostrich egg, and you have a 2-day protein source in it's own packaging.

I have turkey and pheasant eggs. LOTS of them.

Turkey eggs are about twice the size of a chicken egg by volume. They are cream colored with maroon to pinkish speckles, but could easily be dyed.

Pheasant eggs are about 1/2-1/3 of a chicken egg. They are also not plain jane white. Mine range from baby poop brown to olive.

Both are quite edible, and we have eaten both.
