I have no problem with motorcycles, I always give them plenty of room, never cut them off or ride ass. Today some jackass on a motorcylce almost killed himself and his passenger because he wasn't paying attention to my blinker, I wanted to take a left to turn around on hwy 203, had my blinker on for a good quarter mile to take a left, started to slow (and like I always do, looked in the rear view mirror) for the turn, well he didn't slow down and locked up his rear with 4 cars behind him I hesitated to make my left turn because he swung left like he was gonna pass, finally everybody was slow enough to be safe and I pulled off to the right and he passed and waved to me like sorry I almost killed two people against your car.......to close

And to hell with these lance armstrong type bicylclists who take up the whole road riding 3 wide through a uphill curve on a double yellow road!! U hear me coming ride single file so I can get through my day.
Bicyclists should obay all laws all other street vehicles are supposed to, hell make them buy plates and tabs and insurance. And quit acting like you are a pedestrian when the light turns red on you, I can't do that in my car.....

I rarely see bicyclists obey traffic laws and I live in a town with a lot of bicyclists. The worst offenders are, as you say, the Lance Armstrong type. For some reason they feel they can take up most of a lane for some egotistical reason.

I can confidently say that 99% of people who act like dicks while they ride their $1,500 ultralite down the road are either californians or easterners.

Lukesfishin,

There is a guy in Michigan who shared your attitude that bikes belong on the road only under the conditions you appear to think are right. A cyclist was on the road ahead of him in his SUV, didn't run any lights but was moving in the slow heavy traffic ahead of him. Since might makes right in his mind, he ran over the cyclist, then backed up and ran him over again. He is now in prison for a very long time for vehicular assault and second degree murder. There are other examples. It's about choices all right.

Sg

PS: I'm not advocating that anyone, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, or motorists disobey traffic laws.

Just be happy you don't have any of the "Critical Mass" dickheads in your area. These are dil-holes that ride down the middle of the road simply to piss off drivers.

Opposite side of same coin-- A few decades ago, I used to race bicycles. Accordingly, that meant lots of miles on roads both spinning solo or training rides with a group. I/we never pulled the entitlement chit I see most lycra-clad wanna-be's doing as mentioned above.

Conversely, I have lots of stories of nearly getting nailed by a cars pulling out in front of me, either intentionally/blindly or underestimating my approach speed, or passing me and then immediately making a right hand turn with me on their hip. One a-hole did that to a good friend of mine, putting him up against the side of their car and then rolling down his window to flip-off my friend after making the turn. The bad news was that my bud was a former Marine, an Olympic class sprinter and the light turned red at the next intersection. Somebody got their head pulled out of their ass after passing same through the window.

People yakking on cell phones nowadays add to the mix. I still ride a few times a week but about 9 months of the year are on a very nice mountain bike on single-track trails, sans cars....

I have about had it with the 5 trillion decibel harley on my street though. There is no need.

You pretty much have this one wrong. How do you slow down for a bicyclist who is passing you on the right when you've had your turn signal on for quite a while to let them know you're turning right (and you're ahead of them by 100')? Only to get your car slapped as you stop because they definitely aren't slowing down to let you turn..... and then get the bird.

How do you slow down for a cyclist who runs a red many seconds after it has turned that color?

As for percentages... you are way off. I don't see folks driving automobiles running reds at a 50% rate, riding on the sidewalks to create some space for themselves, splitting lanes, etc.

They earn their reputation.

I ride a bike and have two cars and a boat trailer I pay license tabs for so I do pay for the road upkeep.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I encounter a prick on a bike about once a week on my commute to and from work.

I encounter a prick in a car about every 90 seconds on my commute to and from work.

No engine.... D *M* V

Didn't you give the legal title to your boat/vehicle to the State when you registered it, leaving only equitable title? Don't you have both legal and equitable title for your bicycle, precluding the need for a license?

Do you license your drift boat? How 'bout rider's ed and a required license for the 6 yo kid riding his bike in his own cul-de-sac?

Why license a camper then, even after I've paid tonnage on my F350? I never understood that one, but I don't have to license my canopy?

I put about 30K miles on my personal vehicle and another 20-25K on my work trucks. The "pricks" driving cars just don't have a clue. Getting a drivers license in WA state is as easy as pulling the prize from the bottom of a Cracker Jack's box. I can understand their incompetence and deal with it by driving accordingly.

Cyclists know exactly what they are doing. Those "pricks" have earned their reputation. Comparing the 2 are apples and oranges....

Ding ding ding........!!!!!!!!

WA drivers are worse than those on 3rd world islands.

And that says a lot.

You take the worst drivers in North America out of their Priuses and Subarus put some faggy spandex (covered in corporate logos that don't even sponsor them) on them with a gay little mushroom hat, and give them a bike and suddenly the worst drivers in the world are the worst cyclists in the world but with a smug, self-righteous sense of entitlement.

Now take one of these assfvcks and elect him Mayor of the region's largest city.

Pretty much sums up why WA state is such a backwards clusterfvck.

If you can't go the speed limit you shouldn't be on that road.
