Yeah, and any Pantera fan in the room won't kick your ass for calling him Larry.

Man... lotsa butt rockers out there. I think just about every major 80s glam band has been represented. I never cared for that genre much (with a few noted exceptions), but without question, it produced more power ballads per hit album (and more dudes that looked like ladies) than any period before then or since.
Actually, I appreciate some of those songs a lot more now. I definitely appreciate Poison more these days, but that's probably only because one of my daughters made me listen to Miley Cyrus covering "Every Rose has its Thorn" the other day. Made me ill, but also made Bret Michaels sound like Frank Sinatra.

Say Hello to Heaven gets heard around here enough...especially because of its tribute status to Andy Wood...the whole Temple of the Dog album is permanently in my CD changer.
Still more than a little bitter than Nirvana broke the scene open around here when it undoubtedly would have been Mother Love Bone and Andy Wood, had Andy not died before he had a chance to take his rightful place as "the" Seattle grunge scene artist.
Oh Hell Yeah. The 80's freakin rocked. It rocked because I was at the right age for it to rock. I was a lean mean tail chasing machine. Loud hair bands, abhorrent, highly promiscuous behavior, very few responsibilities, hard partying several nights a week and the stamina to survive it all. The mind reels at my life from in the late 70's '80's & early nineties. Did I mention the tail?

yea i totally agree on that todd. andrew really messed that situation up by his death.
hey todd are you familiar with Skin yard? Grunt Truck came from the ashes. I saw Grunt Truck twice. the last time they played a bar in yakima. they really had some tight great grunge power songs. then they just disapeared. i recently found out the the lead singer(i fail to recall his name) died a while back to complications to some illness. sad cause they had a really grungy edge to them.
however AIC had the very best lyrics of the seattle scene, my personal opinion.

It's Gruntruck, you knuckleheads.
Ballads are almost ghey, but I like this one, if you can call it a ballad. Say what you want about Andrew Wood, and I like him, but nobody touches Chris Cornell.
There's an ad at the beginning, but it's a great video.

Once upon a time every cut-offs w/longjohns wearer in The PNW claimed they were at the party Wood offed himself at. That was like 45 minutes or so after Smells Like Teen Spirit debuted on MTV and about 5 minutes after they first heard of Andy Wood.

If you really want a dose of Chris Cornell, go plug in Badmotorfinger and select Slaves and Bulldozers.
If Hank listened to it, it would probably kill him.
But it ain't a ballad.

Thanks for the memories. There had been an album that I had been listening to but had really failed to notice a song on the album till something very tough in my life happened.
The person that had always been there for me passed. It was my Great-Grandmother and her name was Stella, which of course is latin for star. I spent many moments late at night looking up at the stars looking for guidance, and yes crying and missing my Grandma.
