Summit Lake has been stocked with large diploid RBT (14-18") again this year. As many of you know WDFW has been toying with releasing fewer larger fish in South Sound for the past few years with what appears to be very good results. The large fish stocked into Summit this year were AD marked. Creel checkers will be working the launch on the opener but I would appreciate hearing from anglers who don't get checked or fish after the opener. Good fishing, Fishcounter.

When I catch 'em all I'll happily supply you with any info you like...Such as how they taste baked in butter, garlic, parsley & lemon. smile

Summit fished well (relatively speaking) on Sat. with about 4.5 fish/caught per angler (~2.5 fish/angler harvested). Many anglers who fish Summit are strictly C&R fishers but we did see many of the large AD marked diploid RB in the fish anglers kept. These fish made up about 12% of fish harvested but represented about 2% of fish stocked. Some of this can be explained by high-grading but most anglers reported keeping all fish caught. Based on what we observed here, and in other Thurston Co. lakes, this program is working well. These fish appear to return to the creel at a much higher rate than smaller RB. Comments?

Also, eleven kokanee up to 12" were harvested (incidently????) at Summit on the opener

Ive caught a phat 13"-14 Koke out there, trolling pop gear/wedding ring deep with a 3/4 oz rudder weight, it was odd, smack in th middle aas we were cutting cross to try the other shore. Opening day fishers dont seem to me to be the C&R type, more like the type that quits for the season when powerbait quits working. Ive seen Asians get busted at the launch for having 1/2 dozen grocery bags and 2-3 more buckets full of trout all under 8". annd of course, not a single licence among the family. Prolly had 30 lbs total fish. And people ***** about wanting to shoot the Bald Eagles
