I can understand that many people don't agree with gay rights for whatever reason. What I don't understand is how so many people can have so much anger and hatred for it that they will expend significant energy and money to fight it. That takes a hella' lot of anger and hate.

The anger and hate is fomented by right wing politicians and their chubby little minions (eg., Karl Rove) so that they can get the dingbats and douchebags to the polls to vote against those darn gay people who are ruining the entire earth with all their wanting equal rights and stuff...and while you're there, please vote for our dingbat and douchebag right wing candidates! Thank you!

One need only point to many people, right and left, who have devalued the sanctity of straight marriage.

Same goes with abortion... I used to live down the road from a Planned Parenthood and frequently drove by it a few times a week. Almost every day there were a handful of people (sometimes double digit #'s) out front waving pro life/anti abortion posters, and most of them were middle/older aged women past menopause..

I always wondered how abortion was such a big deal to them that they spent countless hours each week holding a sign up in front of a Planned Parenthood.... Like anyone is going to change their stance on the matter cause some crusty old hag is holding a sign expressing their personal opinion on abortions....

Religion (and politics) makes people do some crazy things and fight for some stupid reasons... Don't like abortions? Don't get one. Don't like gay marriage? Then don't get one.... Why people care so much about what other people do just boggles me....

They've been taught to believe that it's murder but mostly they have too much time on their hands. Some of the "Christian" sects are the worst cults in the world and 100% opposed to freedom and democracy yet they don't realize it.

There isn't enough repubs in Cal to pass prop 8 without alot of votes from the "other" side.

Why does that matter? Are right and wrong to be judged on public opinion? Using that criterion slavery was very right in Mississippi in 1850.

The difference is, of course, that no one will ever make anyone get an abortion, so if you don't like abortions...or gay marriages, or contraception, or whatever...don't have one.

Outlaw gay marriage, being gay, having abortions, whatever...they'll find something else they need to hate...it's like breathing for them.

I thought the left was supposed to be tolerant of those who have different beliefs. But, if you're against gay marriage, you're a f'n religious zealot. Seems just a bit hypocritical. Very consistent, but hypocritical.

I suspect the "left"(whatever that is) would be tolerant of those who have different beliefs if those people weren't trying to enforce those beliefs on others.
