I kinda liked the guy with his grandpa's recipe "Abe Smith's Mt. Baker Moonshine". This could be like the micro beers and wine on steroids as to variety! I can live with and kinda like the concept. The local Vodka here ain't half bad.

i just bought some Junior Johnsons "Apple Pie" Moonshine down here in Puyallup not that long ago... not that bad at all... Popcorn Sutton also has some, called White Whiskey, but as of right now, its only sold in Tennesee, and they cant ship out of state... Popcorn is the dude in the discovery show Moonshiners, the old guy... he killed himself a few years ago because they were going to lynch him for making moonshine in the woods... they say that White Whiskey will rival even the best Vodkas....

I've had White Lightning.

From a jug, passed to me by some toothless firewood thief. Too afraid of him to refuse the possible blindness and liver failure from his hooch.

Tasted like Everclear with a hint of sweet corn which grows a plenty up around Boistfort.

Not bad stuff, but I'll stick to the stuff from the store.

I've had some of Whatcom county's finest when we lived up there. I'm not a vodka guy, so it was ok but not my first choice of an adult beverage.

Used to have a mason jar of that West Virginia squeezins. Awesome stuff, went down like lava and kept right on burning. Elder son
got into it and that was that. Served him right.
Old boys in Ravenswood were pretty good at eliminating the fusil oil,
or acetone if you will.

The Pacifique Absynthe made here in woodinville is pretty damn good stuff. Made with real wormwood, it gives a pretty trippy buzz if you drink 3 or 6.

I can't pull myself away from all the good beer around here to care much about craft distilleries..plus that gets dangerous for me and my alter-personality.

I make my own apple pie. I dont have a source for moonshine though. I have used everclear, gin, vodka and dark rum. It is very popular. Too bad I dont like it as much as my friends.

The NW is heaven if you are into beer, wine or spirits. It could be I dont know any better for the last 2 I mentioned but the beer here cant be beat. Then again I have had one or 5 this evening.

I spent a few years in High Country South Carolina along the 4 state border (an extremely "interesting" place and very close to where Deliverance was filmed). While there, I was fortunate (or unfortunate) to be introduce to Lightin' drankin'. HO-LEE-SHEET! eek2

I never got to see a Still or even really talk about it much. It's like Fight Club down there and the first rule of Fight Club is to not talk about Fight Club. Some folks abided by the shoot, shovel, shut up principle - so I thought it best to not push.

But I did learn this much from the Natives...Drinking fruited shine from a non-reputable source is sort of dangerous and you are taking your life in your own hands. Shine should be sold / bought clear. Clarity helps prove purity to a degree. Many an idiot has been left blind, deaf and dumb (or dead) from drinking rusty shine (radiator stills, rust, glycol or whatever). The color of fruited shine masks the liquid death. Just sayin'. Its not as bad nowadays as its become more mainstream and / or legal and that is a VERY good thing.
