I'm in the middle of a major remodel of my laundry room. long story short for now...I'm about to have a new electrical service installed. i.e. a new mast, meter, and panel. The mast and meter are going to get relocated. I had an electriction come out today to have a look. I've already placed a call to Seattle city light to have someone come out to ok the new location of the mast and meter. I wouldn't mind a second opinion on the work to be performed. So, if you're an electrician and want to make some extra coin hit me up via pm.

Thank you,

Drew

I guess I should say the existing electrical panel is currently in the laundry/mud room and the new one will be installed in it's place. The meter is adjacent to the panel on the outside wall. It will be moved about 10 ft away on the outside of my kitchen. Water has been getting into the wall behind the meter for years from the looks of it. The whole outside facing wall and half of the subfloor and joists are rotted out bad! I found this out when I removed the linoleum from the laundry room in preparation for my new floor. The washer and dryer had been sitting on a thick wood pad. When I removed that and took a step where it was I about fell through the floor.

So I dug into it a bit and decided this job is above my skillset. I called in a friend of a friend who is going to hook me up on the cheap for rebuilding the wall and half my floor. I know that sounds bad but he's legit and has been doing carpentry and such for 30+ years.

So again, if you're an electrician and looking for work let me know. I need some sh1t done ASAP!

Thanks

Drew

that's already in the works. Made the call today. I'm looking for a 2nd opinion on the work that I need performed. The new mast and meter relocation and installation and new breaker panel install. There's also a few odds and ends like grounding and such that needs to be brought up to code. the house was built in 1941. There's even some old knob and tube wiring still in the attic. It's non-functional but is still there. that should say how outdated some things are at my crib.

that's something to consider. I was thinking 200 was going to be enough, but maybe not. I have a detached shop and I'm planning on running power out to it within the next year. For now I've been using an extension cord that I run from an exterior outlet on the house. I have a power strip out there that I have a few shop lights plugged into. But whenever I run my lead smelter I have to turn all lights out but one or that power strip breaker trips. When I run power to the shop I want to be able to run all my lights out there plus operate various types of equipment without compromise. We're also going to remodel the kitchen in the next couple years and will be adding a dishwasher and garbage disposal. I'll have to make sure my electrician knows everything I'm trying to do so we can plan accordingly for the new breaker panel.

the 2nd opinion I'm looking for is not for the location of the mast and meter. I'm leaving all that up to the city. I'm looking for more "bids" for work to be completed is what I'm saying. After new floors, and having to rebuild half the laundry room we're spending a lot more than is coming in this month...a lot more! while I believe I'm getting a good deal from the guy I met with today I figured I'd ask around on here if there's any electricians that have some time in they're schedule to do the work for me. If so, pm me and come out and give me a competitive bid.

And Chuck, is your father in law's name John...? If so, small world eh? smile

Thank you -I think.

Again, almost Big Stickian. I think from what Phil tells me you could hang with BS and that's a tall order.

So seriously let's go shoot, hook, scare, dig, trap or kill sumpin.

Exact Electric did work on my house in Ballard. About a third cheaper than the next bid. Great work. (206) 434-6915
