Stop screaming at your slow laptop and check out the new Sequoia supercomputer from IBM, which has claimed the honor of being the world's fastest calculating machine. The California übersystem weighs the equivalent of 30 elephants and can perform 16.3 quadrillion calculations per second. To put that into average Joe context, it means Sequoia can calculate in one hour what would otherwise take 6.7 billion people 320 years to complete if they worked nonstop on hand calculators. Pretty useful for students taking their SATs, if a little difficult to smuggle into the testing room.

Not really a PC at all, it's a huge array covering 3,000 square feet and using 96 racks to hold all the hardware.

I'm curious how much it will be utilized, because all that power and speed sitting idle would be a big waste. That's one of the issues with today's home PC's..people are spending big bucks to buy the really fast, really high performance systems then never even come close to utilizing all of the processing power. You can save money by buying to suit your usage and not just shoot for the fastest PC with the best graphics out there..

I think the government ordered it to keep track of the national debt.
