Awesome collection of photographs.
I go out for a few days at a time with modern equipment and during easy weather.
These people lived it.

Very cool.

I'm impressed with the sharpness of the photos considering the era. Would love to see similar quality images of the northwest. Clark and Darius Kinsey logging photos come to mind but there must be others that focused on the untouched landscape??

Most of us never see them but photos of the pioneering days in WA state are available and very interesting. The U of W has a large collection that can be accessed. In GH it is the Jones family as the family business founder documented timber, fish, and all aspects of the pioneers from the beginning of the last century. Right down to giant rafts of logs that went to San Fran to rebuild it after the earth quake.

DV got it as the pictures are a look back in time.

I've stood in most of the places in those photos. To this day, the scenery is virtually unchanged. The difference from then to now would be mode of transportation. You would see a 4 wheel drive pickup instead of horse or mule teams & wagons.

Nice historical pictures.
