this one sucks..

me and Katie both woke up, she got up and went out, then came back and called Tye and he jumped up and walked pretty gingerly out of my room and went outside.... i was sitting there for a second, and i heard Katie making noise out there, so i went out to see what was going on... and he was lying there, with her next to him, i just thought that she was petting him untill i asked what she was doing and she was bawling.... then i put my hand on him and he wasnt breathing... he took one small gasp and that was it....

she said he came up the stairs, into the door, and just dropped dead right there... just fell over and died...

he was also older than i thought, i always thought he was in the 14-15 year old range, well i got him from my brothers wife about 2 years before they were together, and they have been together for 15 years...

ive had Tye half my life, and he was the last living thing that me and my dad shared, as my dad helped me train him just like we did with the Shepards...

he was the best dog i have ever owned... and honestly, i dont know if i can take dealing with this again, so he might be the last dog i ever owned...

Sorry to hear you lost another one of your pets, redhook. Hope that run of bad luck you've had recently is over. If you decide you're ready for another pet, consider a rescue dog. My daughter and her husband just adopted their first dog from the Tacoma Humane Society. It's one of the best dogs I've ever been around. You might find your new "best dog ever" at a shelter. Good luck.

Just found out less than an hour ago that one of my best friends and former golf partners had passed away from lung cancer. Don't really give a [Bleeeeep!] why you're asking me about my pets. What's your point?

I was involved in field trial, dog shows, and raising family pets for years. All my dogs have died; now I dogsit a granddog. I did visit a shelter yesterday to look at a dog for possible adoption. Don't forget to send your condolences to redhook

i think hes talking to me CedarR...

the cat died after the 4th, so 2 in a month or so... we have 2 cats that are 16 and 14, 1 cat that is 4, 1 that is 3, and 1 thats around 7...

the dog had litterally used more lifes than anything ive ever witnessed... when he was about 6 months old, he was attacked by 4 Lahsa Opso's and a 130+ pound Lab... he almost died, but we got him to the vet in time... then when he was a little older, my 16 year old cat knocked a full quart of Gorrilla Glue off the mantle, and it busted on the floor, which Tye promptly ate... and nearly died, but we got him to the vet in time...

one time we were at the Snoqualmie at the bend right in front of the trailer park or whatever it is, campground in Fall City below the falls, and my friend threw a stick into the river, well Tye liked to chase sh!t, so he bolted and jumped into the river, the MIDDLE of the river, to get the stick, and the current was pulling him down river, but luckly we had him on a 60 foot rope, so nothing happened...

after my dad died, Tye just layed where my dads feet would be when he would sit on the couch, he did that for a few months.... he knew...

i dont know why or how this happened the way it is.. i knew he was getting old, and maybe had 6 months to a year left, but litterally, he just fell over and died in the door... he never once whined, never made a sound, so i dont think he was in any pain... he had problems with his hip recently, and it just kinda went down hill after that... this last month anything he wanted he got, a little extra snack, whatever... i knew this would happen sometime, just never thought it would be this soon, nor this way... he litterally took his last breath as i had my hand on him... and honestly, im kinda freaked the fvck out right now....

as you know, we have issues with theives here, so every night before i went to bed, i would walk him down to the other street, then walk him back up to the other street, then inside so he could pee or whatever... i really could use him now too, as there was 4 people in my neighbors yard last night...

Tye dying is like my dad dying all over again, he litterally was by my side all day every day when im at home... he was like my brother... when i would get upset, he would notice it, and kinda make a "calm down" type noise... with my dads help, he got the same training as our award winning German Shepards got, even tho he was Rott Pitt and Dingo, and not a pure bred, my dad still loved him as his own...

this really sucks...

That sucks, Redhook. Sorry about your dog. That said, it sounds like he lead a full, happy life and made it to his last breath without a lot of suffering. That beats the hell out of how most pets (and people) move on.

Good luck with your grieving process.

it sure is weird around here without him... the 7 year old cat used to lay outside with him, sometimes all day long, she has been looking for him and doesnt want to go outside much... i had his chain in my pocket last night, and when i would walk, it sounded just like he did walking around....

i even made the mistake of going to go feed him for a second...

gonna be hard to break certian habits ive done the last 17 or so years...
