It it just me, or can defensive players no longer lay a great hit on someone without getting a flag thrown on them?
I saw it called multiple times today and none looked illegal to me.
Here is a example of what I'm talking about from today.
What is the db supposed to do, just let the guy catch the ball?

The way to deal with a defenseless player is to tell them to defend themselves.

It's getting way out of hand.

...or have them wear flags....or a Cardinals uniform.

An example of this happened in the Hawk's game today. Sidney Rice caught a pass over the middle and was met with a clean shot to the chest.

Of course the ref threw a flag and penalized the Cardinal that put the hit on him.

I'm a Hawks fan and thought the call was [Bleeeeep!].

Senseless hit. The refs got the call right.

I've recently started watching a bit of the NFL again.... Too violent, and toooo many senseless hits. But since the league has started cracking down, I've been tuning in a little more. The League is getting it right so far. Imo

The hit on Rice was incredible............and very legal.

I'm sure there will be fewer fans if they take away the violence in football.........and without fans.........we'll be seeing how much money is dumped watching tennis.

Football is going to have to change. The legal liability from ex-players dieing far too early is untenable for the NFL. It is not difficult to hit hard and legal without leading with your head above the waist. It is also a far more effective method of tackling. When I lived in New Zealand I watched a much more violent sport, Rugby, played with no helmets. The guys played clean (for the most part) and tough. Maybe we should eliminate helmets for football????
