Just curious: Has the elimination of the State monopoly had any
effect on the price of alcoholic beverages?
Except for some Pacifico and Grolsch now and then I don't buy
the hard stuff any more.
My Drambuie and Tia Maria stock that I brought home from California will probably last my lifetime.

I'm paying roughly $6.00 less for the same bottle.
Total Wines and More is now my go to place to buy liquor.

stopped at the grocery store at 9 pm last night on my way home from work... picked up a bottle of rum along with a few other groceries - had a pirate party for one when I got home

I had to plan my weekly booze comsumption on saturdays during the state monopoly...

I saw gas here today at 3.19 a gallon

Gas was $3.09 per gallon at Costco today.

So Piper, what kinda rum do you prefer? I prefer Appleton's Estate and sometimes buy Sailor Jerry in memory of 2 long time friends named Jerry I did a lot sailing with.

Some of the stuff I drink has gone down in price,some has gone up.

Basically a wash.

5 Star Cockspur's pretty smooth. And the 12 year aged holds its own to.

I bet Total Wine has it. I've seen so many brands I've never heard of before. I heard you can get Everclear now....not that I want any.

You can get Everclear, 190 proof, in Washington but you have to buy a special permit. 151 proof Everclear is available at a number of liquor stores over the counter.

I'm paying bout $3.00 to $4.00 bucks less on my Texas 5th's I get these day's.Good luck,

I'm a huge sailor Jerry fan... it's always on the shelf...

Had a girlfriend bring back a bottle of 12 year old Flor back from nicaragua... i still have the bottle - its really cool no tax stamps or english writing...

for the rum lovers check out the rum bar "Rumba" on Pike at the base of capitol hill.... the bartender loves rum and loves to have you sample rums from around the world! awesome place

Are you guys counting the extra tax they add *at the register* for alcohol?

My sense is prices haven't changed much--they just appear to--because the shelf prices are before the (significant) liquor taxes. That's different than before if memory serves.

But I am still very satisfied with the changes -- both being able to shop at the grocery store, and because Total Wine/BevMo are just plain fun to shop at.

There's a booze store in Silverdale that has prices posted with the taxes included so you know what you'll pay at the register.

It is a hell of a lot more convenient no matter the cost. I find some things cheaper and some more expensive but overall I am very happy with how it worked out.
