True, but Yebisu kicks the [Bleeeeep!] out of all of them.

There wasn't any Yebisu when I was on the 7th Fleet scene. Can't
make a call on that one.

The best beer is any beer between 7:30 to 9:00 in the morning after landing your first fish. Means the day started off "just right".

The second best beer is always something local to your area. Around kitsap I like the ridgetop red. Or maybe something seasonal from them. Always keep ridgetop on tap at the house though. If you have not tried it stop by silvercity.....good sh-t.

I second Doc's sentiments but would add the first sip of a beer after a long day on the river with no beer is also great.

Doc - have you been to Silver City's brew house in Bremerton? Casual spot and reminds me of Thomas Kemper's Poulsbo spot at the old slaughter house before they were bought and moved to Seattle.

Cool guys and good atmosphere. Never sat down and drank but dropped off the kegs every couple of months since we got taps put in. The 1/8 barrels dont last as long as you would think.

When it comes to a breakfast beer, I do prefer Rainier.

Great place to watch a football game! staggering distance back to my house... I just wish they would've made the sidewalks 8' wide instead of 5'...

"staggering distance back to my house"

Always a big plus. If you see an gray haired, pony tailed codger squinting at the beer list, it might be me. Sadly, I live close to Brownsville so a taxi is needed if I have too much fun there.

Funny chit.

At 5' wide you have a better chance of landing in a planter.

I would happily drink their beer.
Belgian women are quite hot I've heard.

Don't know why beer drinking and women are related.
A preconceived notion, I suppose.

Been there, done that... I've also come to the conclusion that a 10' trail is not wide enough to ride a bike after spending the afternoon at the long beach tavern! turns out, sand is not that soft...

Chuck,
I'll be the blond haired, pony tailed, middled aged - almost codger - and likely with a cute young blond lady at my side...

I'll be sure to say hi... wink

todd was right about the difference between canada import beers from the same beer that stays in canada. huge difference. the kokanee is a very good example.

generally the safest rule to follow is beers done locally in any area will be the best. fresh brittish beer that you find in the pubs of brittain come from the local breweries. take that same brew and bring it here... well it's not the same. beers age like milk. imagine how a gallon of darigold would taste being frieghter shiped to brittain... not well great.

Why all the hate on Belgian beers? A good Abbey style ale is always a favorite with me. Of course, you don't find many of those round here. If you get the notion, try New Belgium's Abbey or Trippel. Yes, they're American, but both great examples of the style.

I also love German bier, but I think the good ol' USA has the best variety (and most adventurous flavors) of any place I've ever been. Some American microbrewery makes a world class example of most every style of beer.
