Took my kids to the Forks area last week for our annual spring break vacation. We've gone out there the last three years now and are kind of making it a tradition. We visited all four beaches while we were out there and only got to fish for a few unproductive hours. While I was there I did manage to cut out three gill nets that were in the water. They had been mostly destroyed by high water but were still leathel to fish and foul. One net that was down near the mouth of the Quillayute river had two cormorants stuck in it. Both birds were drowned, best use yet for a gill net. Should have taken a picture of it. One net was at the mouth of the Sol Duc right at the boat ramp, you can see that one in the top of a tree on the river side of the ramp. Does anyone have any idea how many nets are lost each year in that river system ? Anyway Sunday was a beautiful day there and we'll be back next year.
